I recognize not every woman loves pink. For many of you the idea of decking out your guns in the color of bubble gum appalls you. On the other hand, I know that some of you began shooting only because colored guns look more feminine. And yes, though some of you detest the color pink there is no denying the fact that our culture relates the color to females and femininity.
One of the reasons why many shooters love the AR-15 so much is its versatility. There are so many different ways to customize your black rifle. In recent years, we have seen many black rifle accessories in muted military colors such as flat dark earth (FDE), olive drab (OD) green and the newest, urban gray. The popularity of zombies spawned some to make “zombie green” or lime green accessories. Now, people are cerakoting firearms in limitless color schemes and patterns truly making their rifles one of a kind. However, cerakoting isn’t easy for the amateur; it can be costly and take some time.
If you do a search on different colored AR-15 accessories, the only alternative you will find to the FDE and OD green is pink. Right now, it is what manufacturers are giving us. For those of you who like pink like me, celebrate all the different options. And for those of you offended by the color—and I get it. I really do—however, I’m asking you to step back for a second and unpoliticize the color pink. Let us look at pink for what it is—merely a color. A mix of red and white; a color that sets somewhere between red and magenta on the color spectrum. It doesn’t mean anything. After all, pigs are pink, sunsets are pink, roses are pink and even some diamonds are pink. It isn’t a bad color. I mean, come on—who hates pigs and diamonds?
So I say, why not embrace it? For those of you who find going full pink as obnoxious or too costly, or for those just simply wanting to add a pop of color, the here are some affordable options and subtle ways to dress up your AR-15.

For those of you are mad at me right now for even suggesting adding pink accessories to your AR, I offer you this: first, one of my black rifles has not a drop of color on it. And I like it that way. Second, contact your favorite manufacturers and tell them you want to see yellow, green, blue, red, orange or whatever color is your favorite. The customer has power. The firearms industry stood up and took notice we were buying before—they will pay attention.
