Smith & Wesson Performance Center Revolvers

Black handled Smith & Wesson 460XVR with optional sights, barrel pointed to the left on a white background

We saw a number of new revolvers unveiled by Smith & Wesson at SHOT Show, including three new hunting handguns in their Performance Series line. All three new revolvers come factory equipped with Picatinny rails, and the 460XVR and Model 647 Varminter both include bipods.

The Model 629 .44 Magnum and 460XVR are also both equipped with recoil-reducing compensators while red/green dot optical sights are also included with the Model 629 and the Model 647.

From the Smith & Wesson press release: “As the popularity of handgun hunting reaches new heights, the master gunsmiths of the legendary Smith & Wesson Performance Center continue to provide hunters with an unmatched advantage in the field. For 2011, three distinct models, covering small to large game, offer recreational and professional hunters superior accuracy and reliability.

From the swift .17HMR to the venerable .44 Magnum and mighty 460 S&W Magnum, these custom revolvers are a hunter’s dream and the game’s worst nightmare.””

  1. I JUST PURCHASED A S+W 929 REVOLVER .IT NEEDS MOON CLIPS OR YOU MUST EJECT CASINGS ONE AT A TIME .IT CAME WITH ONE CLIP WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO LOAD.TO TIGHT. S+W TOLD ME CLIPS ARE NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE GUN IS NEW! WHATS WITH THAT? I DON’T WANT TO ALTER THE CLIP TILL I HAVE OTHERS— DON’T WANT TO FIRE THE GUN UNTIL I AM SURE I CAN LOAD IT WITHOUT A MALLET
