H.R. 2810: Here Come the Military Surplus 1911s to the Public!

On Tuesday, President Trump signed into law H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (NDAA)—yada, yada, yada… The military currently has about 100,000 1911s just sitting in storage and costing the taxpayers money to store them. H.R. 2810 requires military surplus M1911/M1911A1 pistols (1911s) to be made available for sale to the American public!

Colt 1911 pistol left side
The Colt 1911 was the greatest gun of its day and it still is.
To be fair, President Obama signed a similar order. However, Obama’s order left the transfer to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) optional. However, neither Ash Carter nor Eric Fanning decided to commit political suicide by making it happen under President Obama.

H.R. 2810, on the hand, solves that problem by making the transfer mandatory.

H.R. 2810 starts with a pilot program that will transfer between 8,000 and 10,000 1911s to the CMP for sale to the public. The Secretary of Defense, currently Gen. Jim Mattis, will then report the outcome of the program to Congress. The Secretary of Defense is then authorized to continue transferring up to 10,000 1911s per year for sale to the public through the CMP.

The Process

All pistol sales will occur through a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) in the purchaser’s state of residence, who will have to obey all state and local laws of the point of sale. Sales records allowing for the tracing of the firearms—should they later be found at a crime scene—will be kept both by the CMP and by the transferring FFL.

Furthermore, the buyer must receive the pistol from the FFL in a face-to-face transaction at the FFL’s business premises. Pistols will not be provided directly to the buyers by the CMP. This is different than the way M1s were distributed, but conforms to current firearm conventions. However, the process will go beyond current regulation due to certain enhancements.

The CMP has further indicated two background checks will be conducted in connection with each sale. The first will be conducted through the CMP prior to shipping the pistol to the specified FFL. The second will be conducted through FFL before releasing the pistol to the customer at the FFL’s place of business. Another variance from the process we are used is demonstrated by the fact that while federal law allows an FFL to transfer a firearm three days after a “delay” response by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), the CMP will only transfer the firearm to the FFL if NICS provides a “proceed” response to the first background check.

Additional Requirements

Those wishing to acquire one of the surplus 1911s must be U.S. citizens, eligible to receive firearms under federal law and the laws of their places of residence, members of a CMP-affiliated club, and able to provide proof of participation in a marksmanship activity. Only one 1911 will be available to each customer per calendar year.

Once 10,000 orders are received, the CMP will assign a random number to each customer. These customers will be contacted in sequence with the grading and pricing options that are then available. No timeline for release or pricing information is currently available.

This is another major victory for gun owners under the Trump administration. The NRA released a statement stating its thanks and appreciation to thank Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) and Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) for their leadership in this historic effort.

As soon as further details or release dates become available, The Shooter’s Log will pass them along.

  1. I would love to have one , I carried one when I was active duty in the early 1980’s when I was a Scout. I loved that firearm.

  2. I was issued a Colt 1911 when I was in the Army (963-1969) and would very much like to have one of the 1911’s from this program. I think Congress making this program available to the american public is fantastic.

    1. There was an article her on shooters log about 3 weeks ago, I think they’re available now, but you have to join the CMP and from what I’ve gathered they want you to shoot or at a range! I’m still trying to get more info. but hadn’t really had time and kinda got turned off on the prices that they want for these guns, they start at $600.00 up!!!

  3. I served in the Army from 1972 to 1994 and before making Sgt I was a 90mm recoiless rifle gunner and had a 1911 as my side arm. I enjoyed firing that weapon and always wanted to own one, maybe now I can.

    1. We are still waiting to hear that the CMP has them in hand and ready for orders. ~Dave Dolbee

  4. I am a former Marine and would like old military weapons only I am a retired police officer and my funds are limited; therefore I have not been able to purchase many (2 only).

  5. I would like to own a 1911 Gov. Model. Please let let me know when they are avaliable. Thanks! sincerely Neil.

  6. I would love to have one, I am a veteran of the Coast Guard and I served from 77-82 and carried a 1911 45. I have tried over the years to acquire one but they have always been to expensive and sometimes to damaged to be recovered. I have several 1911 types but nothing like this. I need to know everything that has to be done to have a chance to purchase.

    1. I hope to find out more real soon, I know they’re NOT CHEAP, think they start at 7 to $800.00 and that kinda turned me off! But as soon as I find out more I will post!!

  7. I, like the rest of those online, would like to purchase one of these Colt 1911s. Had one in Vietnam, but was stupid and sold it when I got home.

  8. A Gub’mint Colt? Sign me up. I love the 1911 and enjoy shooting a Mil-Spec Springfield I’ve had for the past 17 years.

  9. I am a Marine 1969-1972. I am also a retired 40 year law enforcement officer and carried as my primary weapon for over 20 years. I am interested in purchasing one.

    1. Question. Are the 1911’s gonna be for sale first, and then the 1911A1. would really like a 1911, I have several A1’s….

  10. Yes i want one orwhatever i can buy. Do not have a cmp sponser any where close to me and the 1 that i d o have is way to expensive for a person on s.s. i am a disabled vet.as well. Thanks

  11. Please let me know when the m1911a1 comes up for sale . I carried one when I was in the army . Loved this weapon, have been wanting one for a long time.

  12. I would absolutely love to purchase a surplus 1911. I was an active duty MP during the transition from the 1911 to the M9 Beretta and I miss my 1911.

  13. YES I CARRIED THE 92 IN NAM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN , WHERE AND HOW TO BUY THIS GREAT HAND GUN. ERNIE G. DECEMBER 29 2017 @ 2:50 PM THANK YOU.

  14. I’d love one. But not a member of CMP and haven’t been in shooting competition. Not sure why that’s a requirement.

  15. Yes, I would be honored and vey grateful to be allowed to own of these collected 1911’s. I have a CHL, an avid shooter and I would highly respect the ownership should I be graced with this Special piece of world history.

  16. I have a Concealed Carry Permit in AZ where I reside. I took a training course prior to receiving my CCW Permit. Is that sufficient to qualify for this program to purchase a 1911?

  17. Will this comment section put me on the availability to purchase notification list? I would like to purchase one at the first opportunity.

    1. No, but check back. I will post something as soon as I hear they are available. ~Dave Dolbee

  18. I have been looking for a way , for a long time, to get ownership of one of these classics! I think this is a great move by my favorite president – Mr. Trump. Having a chance to own one would round-out my collection very nicely!

  19. Very interested in owning an iconic govt. Issue Colt 1911 .45. Both my dad and uncle carried them during WWII.

  20. I certainly don’t want to miss this one. This would be a great addition to my WWII collection. Thanks CMP & Pres. Trump!

  21. Would love to own one of these – remember talking with my father who served under Patton during WWII as a medic and that one of requirements was that he had to qualify with the 1911 45 caliber hand gun, and he didn’t even carry one while working in the field hospital.

  22. I am a Vietnam Vet and carried one in Vietnam. Very interested in owning one, but I do not live anywhere near where there is a CMP program, so this is so very unfair to a lot of us. I have been through the CC program. Does that count?

  23. My father, uncle and cousin were veitnam vets, two has past from agent orange, i would love to own one of these firearms

  24. Hope this privilege to own one of these military veteran 1911 pistols… I hope that it actually happens in my lifetime & isn’t a myth like the WWII Willy’s jeeps for $100.oo some time back… also hope that the application process is fair & equal to all FFL dealers

    1. During my time in the USMC I carried one of these excellent pistols on a daily basis. I was not able to purchase one at that time, but I am very excited to have this opportunity to purchase a .45 1911 pistol through this promotion. Thank you.

  25. I was born in 1943 and most of the males in my family served in the arm forces, so I was raised hearing the wars stories, it would be an honor to own one of these historic weapons.

  26. I ‘grew up’ on the 1911 in the 60s and 70s while an Infantry officer. I have a modern, fancy version of the 1911, but would love to get one of the original versions. Let me know..

  27. The ? was: Are you interested in buying a 1911 through the CMP?… Yes I am very interested in purchasing one of the military surplus M1911/M1911A1 pistols (1911s). Of course this would be pending the final sale price.

  28. They have shooting clubs set up at the Fort, for both the Pistol and M1 Grands, and you can basically build your own weapon! I have a friend that shoots in one of the clubs with the Grands, I’ll try to fing out what I can!

  29. OMG — Well a few hundred stupid worthless notices from Shooters Log about an equal number of mostly equally stupid worthless comments from people screaming Me Too about wanting to buy a 1911 that they think the government will be giving away because they are either too stupid or too lazy to go to the CMP website to get the actual information.

    UN-f’ing-SUBSCRIBE!

    1. where can i get one??
i am only asking to p’ off TomC even more!
      did it work!
Merry F’in Christmas! and a happy new year!

    2. Ohhhh Newwwww! What will we ever do without a synical narcissistic a-hole like yourself participating in the discussion?!?!

  30. I own several guns and have shot many. Although I’ve heard that 1911s are awesome guns I’ve never shot one. It’d be great to own one. Please let me know when they go on sale. Thanks.

  31. I really don’t know Sir, I can remember in the 60’s my father purchased weapons through the NRA from Anniston Army Depot, at that time was the worlds largest Tank factory, employed 6,000 people!!

  32. I think it would awesome to own not only fine gun but a piece of history. There is nothing better than a 1911 or the United State Military! Merica!!

  33. My father and I would both love to have one of these pistols but there are no cmp’s in our area why is that a requirement

  34. I qualified with a 1911 when in the army. Would love to have one now. It sounds like the government is making this more difficult than it should be.

  35. Yes please, I would really like one, i am third generation us army, but the 45’s were gone by the time i came along. I would love to finally have chance to use one.

  36. Great, an even more intrusive federal registry. They’re not even trying to hide the fact that there will be a permanent record of the transaction now, which is, indeed, a federal registry, and is unConstitutional.

  37. 1911 colt. I have concealed carry license that will expire 01/27/2022. Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Clif Strickland

  38. I would like to truly like to thank Rep. Mike Rogers for working hard for the CMP project, and here in my home state of AL. just down the road about 20 miles is the old FT. McCellan that is selling these little jewels! But they do come at a very large price, at 800 HUNDRED and up! But this is when they were first getting set up for sale, and hoping the price may come down a bit! I need to go back and check it out again and see if any changes have been made!!

  39. Those of us who shoot club matches should have no problem acquiring one of these collectible gems. As for Trump being the greatest or even good, that’s a matter of opinion. If he gives this kind of attention to health care, higher education and housing, then maybe he could join the ranks of the respected.

  40. It carried a 1911 when I was in the Army, would love to have one just to have a bit of my past. I collect items from the military past and present.

  41. I find the additional background check frivolous, and will no doubt the up the weapons I transit.I am not a member of a club, but have my DD214. I was one of the last soldiers to qualify on a 1911. Though I already have one, I would live one from the military. Good luck to all who go for one. This is a step in the right direction regardless. Good bless America!

  42. I would like one. Please pass on information about the application process. Are you required to join a CMP which ones are available in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

  43. Definitely interested! I owned a new govt issue colt 1911 that I bought in 1990 and it burned up in a house fire. I still have it but it was ruined.

  44. How many hoops will a person have to jump through? and then you just get what they pick out of the lot, it may be a good one, or it could be a good paper weight….

  45. Would like opportunity to buy one at a good price. What sort of “proof of participation in a marksmanship activity” is needed? A letter from my gun range that I know which of the gun points downrange?

  46. One thing that has me confused with this CMP release that also differs is the need to not only provide proof that you are in a CMP affiliated club but also the need to prove that you have participated in a “marksmanship activity.” How is this defined? Do they need to be CMP approved shoots/classes or is a picture of me aiming at a target (joking) enough? With a lottery like this I am already getting the paperwork ready.

  47. I would really like one of these, but there are no CMP Clubs near me. This puts me, and others, at a disadvantage. Will there be other offerings without the CMP requirement?
    Sama

  48. Family had dutifully protected this Countries freedoms from WW1,WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan and currently in areas of need. It would be great to own a one of these. Sign me up.

  49. Carried the 1911 most of my career with in the Navy before they went to the 9mm, which I really never liked. I would love to buy a1911 for nostalgic reasons as it remains one of my favorite pistols, and brings back so many memories.

  50. I am curious why my comment about the quality and price of these junkers was deleted.? If The Shooter’s log can and will censure negative comments, then why are they here.? Just wrong.

    1. Most likely it was not moderated. With the holiday, I am a little behind with approving them. Sorry. ~Dave Dolbee

  51. I would love to own one of these and they should be made available to American citizens as they are a part of our military history.

  52. Being WW1&2 enthusiast and former soldier who carried and trained on the 1911, I would very much like to own one. I am a NRA Life member and a member of NC Rifle and Pistol Club

  53. I very interested in purchasing a 1911. My father and father in law carried one in the army and I would like to be able to own part of there history while in the military.

  54. My dad was a WWII veteran. His older brother was KIA in 44′. You better believe I would love to own one of these original Colt 1911s. It would be a wonderful tribute to them both. Fingers crossed that I will be one of the lucky, chosen purchasers!

  55. REMEMBER, THESE ARE ORIGINAL AND HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY RAMPED YET. THEY WILL JAM ON YOU IF NOT RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED. LES BAER IN IOWA CAN MAKE IT ALL RIGHT IF YOU GOTTA CARRY THE BIGGEST TO FEEL SAFE.

  56. Had the opportunity to shoot one. Would love one for myself..

You can tell the difference when shooting a quality firearm..

  57. I”d love to own a 1911 45acp, as I have tried to find at a reasonable price. Email to me how, where and when i can purchase one.

  58. Would LOVE one of these without the B/S red tape and conventions. I figure it should be a lottery, seeing as how us taxpayers have already paid these forward twice over. Original purchase with taxpayer funds, and then again for 50+ years of storage…

  59. I would love to own one. I am currently in the Army National Guard and would like more info on the CMP.

    Thank you,

  60. One of these 1911’s would be a great addition to my collection. One that I would be proud to have and leave to one of sons someday. Hopefully, not in the near future. Please advise.

  61. Sounds like to many barrel rings to jump over or through with no time lines mentioned, getting them may take years.. But yes, I’d love to own one…

  62. Have always wanted a 1911 since my service days in USArmy. I was a grunt and qualified with the M-1 but the 1911 was an officer only side arm in 1960. I have a SC CCW and would love to get a good condition1911 at a reasonable price. Please include me when more is known. Thanks, Rick

  63. I would like to buy one as soon as they become available. I qualified as Expert when I was on active duty in the U.S. Navy. I would be honored to purchase one.

  64. I would like to purchase one of these pistols and would like to receive further information on how to do so as soon as it becomes available.

  65. If Trump was great, he would’ve served in Vietnam along with your father. Instead he dodged the draft on 5 occasions and pretended he had a bone spur which didn’t seem to stop him from playing golf and tennis. Not so great.

  66. I AM A LICENSED FIREARM COLLECTOR AND AS A VIETNAM VETERAN WOULD WELCOME THE CHANCE TO ACQUIRE AN
ORIGINAL COLT 1911 MODEL,FOR MY COLLECTION,. ESPECIALLY ONE MANUFACTURED IN THE 1960’S.

  67. Very Interested! Carried one while serving in Desert Storm, and my other 9 years of service. Thank you for the possible opportunity

  68. While I’d love to have one, as a retired 30 CWO4 LE range master I don’t feel like joining a club and jumping through the DCM hoops just to get one. Ill just wait till they start showing up at shows.

  69. I held a colt 1911 for the first time 30 years ago. It belonged to my brother in law who served in Vietnam. Always dreamed of having one!

  70. Great all around pistol. Use to shoot competition with it in the Air Force. Would love to get one to pass down to my kids and grandkids.

  71. I have been wanting to get a pistol and start training to improve my marksmanship. Please add my email to your notes to notify of the process to purchase one of the surplus 1911 45’s. Thank you for the informative article, I enjoy reading them. Please forward any pertinent information to: [email protected] thanks

  72. I thank the should hand them out to all the vets who carried one .if they are in there right mind state ..no offence to anyone .then open up to everyone else .I my self would love to have one. but the cost well be high .I always like the 1911 look and fell .but never could afford to buy one…

  73. Yeah, Great Guns, BUT AT $1000 PLUS THEY ARE MAKING A SHAM OUT OF THIS SALE. FOR ANOTHER FEW HUNDRED ONE CAN BUY a BRAND NEW KIMBER! Sorry to have to say that but many are agreeing this is way to much, I have a C&R that cost me a small bundle to attain and they wont even honor my License to send to my home. The stringent requirements are beyond reason and many members are saying the same thing. If any thing I will wait until a FFL buys them and purchase one at my price after negotiating the sale! GOOD LOCK TO CMP with their new guidelines!

  74. Would like to notified when i can purchase one. Please let me know what i need to do to be included on the list to purchase.

  75. The thought of owning one of these hand guns is over the top exciting! My father carried one as a “Forward Observer” in the Marines during the Korean conflict in 1952-1953.

  76. I would love to have a 1911 I have a few guns but nothing like the 1911
so please lit me know where and when i could have the opportunity to purchase one

  77. Would love to get one but unlike the government I will not give $1000.00 per gun. I hope they sale them at a reasonable price

  78. Yes, please provide application info when it is available. I have a beautiful Colt Gold Cup 1911, 70 series that is so nice I don’t like to use it much. Having a government surplus model would give something to practice with while keeping the Gold Cup in great shape.

  79. Dad stayed alive in hand to hand combst in Leyte and Okinawa because of his 45…..i would love to have one in his memory…

  80. I would love to purchase a military surplus 1911. I carried one for many years, until I grudgingly gave it up in the mid to late 80s when it was replaced w/ the M9. Please let me know how I can get one.

  81. I would love to have one to add to my collection. I think that it should be a lot easier to obtain one tho. That’s all a little over the top. Marksmanship program, cmp affiliated club? Come on. Do the stinkin background check like always and sell us the pistol. Hell, we played for them to begin with!!

  82. I had relatives who landed on Normandy. One their 1911s made it into the family but disappeared over the years. I would like to buy one and want to be notified on when available and how to purchase,

  83. I think it would be a great privilege and honor to own one of these military 1911 45 acp. I own my own Colt however mine is just that of a Police Officer. The honor would be to keep in the best of shape know the memories that come with it.

  84. For those who have never own or shot a single action 45 (government model) you are missing out on the best defensive hand- gun ever made. If you can take advantage of H.R. 2810 get one. You will fall in love with it just as I have for over 50 years. That’s right, I am 70 years old and carry one daily.

  85. I’m definitely interested in being notified when these are available. My dad and uncle both carried this firearm during the Korean war and spoke highly of this weapon.

  86. I remember signing one out and back into the armory each time I had Petty Officer of the watch on the Quarterdeck. I’d love to be able to buy one these, looking forward to the how to purchase info.

  87. In California, Colt 1911’s are no longer legal for civilian purchase. Under H.R. 2810 does anyone know if these would be exempt.

  88. I think they should go one step further and first offer the guns to the soldier’s (or soldier’s family) which they were issued to.
But, since that won’t likely happen, it would be an honor for me to own one. I’ll definitely be on the list! Thanks for the info CTD!

  89. Yes I would love to have one in honor of my father who served 42 years. Went in as a Private and retired as a Colonel.

  90. My son who graduated from West Point was given a commemorative one for graduation. I would love to have one and be able to go shooting with him. Please if there’s any way that I am able to get on the list to receive one please let me know. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  91. Yes. I would like to have one. I served in the Army Combat Engineers. My dad also served in the Army and qualified with a 45.

  92. Please add my name to the list of folks interested in the 1911 program. My father was in WW11 with the Army. I have pictures of him carrying a 1911 in the Philippines. Would like to have as a memento to pass on to my son or grandsons. Thx for your consideration.

  93. I am a veteran of the Vietnam Era (9th infantry during the 1968 Tet Offensive). I carried the Colt 1911 and the M-60 while serving in the Mekong Delta. I would love to get my hands on one of these pistols.
I will wait to hear the price and when they will be made available.

  94. The 1911 was the first pistol I qualified with in the US Army. Thanks to a SFC Junior “Bugs” Wilson for training me in Pistolcraft with this piece. I qualified Expert, no small feat with a 1911. I carried one every day in Vietnam as an Air Cavalry door gunner. It saved my hide one day.

  95. Yep, I’d love to be able to give one a good home, right next to my Magnum Research 1911. Keep me informed…..

  96. I would love to get one of these 1911’s. I have loved them since I first trained with one in the Navy in 1970. Please notify me when they are available.

  97. Carried one myself back in my Navy days and would love to have one of these. What I fall to understand is why all the regs. Isn’t there enough government intrusion on our 2nd Amendment rights already?

  98. Would like one please. Do you have to meet all prerequisites before buying. I haven’t shot competively since I was active duty.

  99. As much as I would love to honor our veterans by purchasing a genuine piece of American History, there is no way I am jumping though this many hoops to purchase a !911; furthermore, considering the quantity of handguns available, releasing only 10,000 per year is ridiculous.

  100. I come from a long line of family members who served in our military. Unfortunately due to a few health issues I was unable to join. I would love be able to own such an integral piece of our us military’s history!!

  101. I would love to own one of these iconic .45’s. Carried one while in Vietnam 3rd Mar Div India Co 1967-1968. There was never a doubt that this would send one of those SOB’s to hell.

  103. I would love to purchase one, I have friends who were in the military and said they one of the best pistols they ever shot. Please keep me informed on when they go on sale.

  104. Would love to own a piece of our Military History. As a Veteran a 1911 will make great place in my Safe. Please advise all necessary processes to buy one.

  105. Please update us on pricing, availability, and contact information as to how to get on the list to purchase these firearms.
Is there any idea how many total might become available? 10,000 per year for how many years?

  106. Yes I would very much like to have one of these. I carried one when I was in the Army in the 60s. Let me know how I can be able to get one. The best gun I ever was able to handle.

  107. I would love to have one even though I believe Trump is not only the biggest idiot I have ever seen, but an embarrassment to the entire country !

  108. I was in Vietnam in 1965 and having akwayscwanted a Colt 1911. I am interested in pruchasingvone at government cost.

  109. Being marine and have fired this pistol highly recomend it and would love to purchase one or two please let me know when and how to purchase

  110. Owned on in the mid 60’s. Had to sell it after discharge to pay for school. I would love one for me and another for my wife.

  111. I would love to own such a great historical firearm. I would be honored to own a firearm like the one that our military carried into battle to protect our freedom here in American. I have the utmost respect for the men and women who have and are surviving our great country.
    God bless you all.
Please let me know when and how I can participate.

  112. Would love to buy one for Its historic value and go hand down to my children.Carried one in the US Navy aboard USS To range SS420

  113. My dad carried #0000000001 in Vietnam and regrets not bringing it home. I would love to get one to honor him.

  114. Would love to have one of the most important handguns of the modern age. Thanks to the 2nd amendment and the men and woman who fought and died for our nation this privilege is possible. Thank you Mr president.

  115. I have a couple of .45 ACP(s) one is a 1911 (Sig Sauer Nightmare Fastback. If the government 1911s are in fair condition, I would like to buy 2 or 3.

  116. TomC, where does your information as to the availability and ease of participation “rather easily available” come from? In fact, it is incorrect for a large number of our citizens even if “rather easily available” for you. My own gun club has an annual membership fee of $200/year, and is difficult to access for those disabled!

  117. Yes I am truly interested in getting one of your pistols cost will mean everything please send more information as you receive it I am truly interested thank you

  118. You can register for CMP emails by going here – http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/1911-information/ and click the link to sign up for Sales Email Updates near the top of the page. Once they have the dedicated 1911 page up and running, you can also bookmark it and check back regularly. I’m excited. I know they’ll be really expensive, but it’s a piece of history, just like the Garand I got from them.

  119. One for all my kids, my wife and me, so six! Thanks to all the US service men and women for giving us such a great nation. Your efforts shall not be forgotten. In the name of freedom, I salute you all!
    T????

  120. Depends on the price tag the CMP is going to slap on these. The 1911s were heavily used and abused, there was a reason they were replaced with the M9s. If the price tag exceeds $250 I’d rather buy a new made pistol without the wear and tear inflicted by hundreds of previous operators. Recently CMP has had a tendency to treat their surplus as “antiques” as far as pricing is concerned instead of looking at fair market value.

  121. Does the law itself actually require each buyer to be a member of a CMP-affiliated gun club and have participated in a marksmanship event?
This severely restricts other taxpayers from acquiring such a handgun for personal protection that all taxpayers paid for. If there is concern about trained recipients, then evidence of such training could also be furnished with records of concealed handgun or military, LEO, or similar training. A great number of citizen taxpayers do not live in an area where such CMP-affiliated clubs are readily available or affordable.

  122. I would love to have one I carried one on all the missile bases I worked on from 1971-1978,in the Army. I have found several of them but asking to much money for them.

  123. Would love to have one of these pistols. When I was in the Army I was the Unit Armorer for the 1st BN/ 5th FA. Not only are these pistols a great starter pistol for someone wanting to get into the shooting sport, these pistols offer numerous options to modify, etc. A pistol is not just something that throws lead and copper down range! These pistols can be upgraded/modified to reflect the personality of the man/woman holding it! Please let me know how to obtain one soon!

  124. Yes I am interested in purchasing one when they come available. Also please send additional information if available about the condition, price etc… Thanks

  125. Even though most of the Army had switched to the Model 92, I actually carried one during my time as an M1 crewman right up till I left the Army in 1991. I would love to buy one.

  126. I missed out on the m-1. I do not want to miss the 1911. Please let us all know when further details are available.

  127. I would love to get one. Just like what Dad had in Korea. my son is entering the Air Force following in Dad’s footsteps. Would love to present him with it at Graduation.

  128. This is wonderful news. I have been waiting for years for this incredible opportunity. Please keep me in the loop for how to proceed. Much gratitude.

  129. I am 83 years old, 7 years military service, fully qualified with M-1 Grand, M-14 – AR’s and 45’s. I don’t know if I could get the performance I get with my 45 Colt Defender I used to get my conceal carry, but the old saying is closeness only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. A lot of practice will help. I would like to feel one of those heavy babies in my hand again. Membership in the NRA and life member of the American Legion. Thanks. FJM December 23, 2017; 3:17 p.m.

  130. Would love to own a 1911a1. Last time I have had one to shoot was back in the early 70’s.
I would be a proud owner.

  131. The post says requirements one must be a member of CMP affiliated club unfortunately I am not and the ones in my area are high school ROTCs. Is there another way to apply for one of the 1911s

  132. Yup, I would take one. Small arms repairman in the service. A favorite to work on. Very easy to disassemble and reassemble.

  133. Soooo, what you’re saying is, us vets can’t buy one but some yahoo who belongs to a shooting club can!!! What a crook of s**t!! Stick ’em!!

  134. Will most certainly consider buying one when they become available. I am hoping that they are not cost prohibiting.

  135. Tell me how to apply. I originally wanted to get one under the Obama order. So now that it can go through under the Trump Administration what are the exact steps that need to be taken to procure one.

  136. I guess since these should be curios and relics, so should I be. Got to use one in early 70’s (Viet Nam) and really thought the stopping power up close was way more important than great accuracy at much distance. Bought a Colt Commander Model 45 that was the closest thing I could find and actually a tighter, more accurate version. Love it but would still like to have one of the older 1911s.

    commander

  137. Definitely would love the opportunit to own one of these legendary pistols! Please keep me informed. Thanks!

  138. Would love to own a 1911. Been looking for a long time for the right one. A peace of history like this is the perfect story to go with the gun.
    Thanks

  139. I owned one but it was stolen. Would love to replace it. As a former Range Master who served 28.9 years in the U. S. navy and a Life Member of the NRA, i am qualified to own and handle one.

  140. Would definitely love to get one of these bad boys. I despise Trump, but hey, who says you have to like the guy to like one part of a bad bill?

  141. While I certainly understand these are a piece of history and would like to have one myself either the way the law was written or the CMP rules are just way to cumbersome and ridiculous. After all, these will probably be pistols made from parts but certainly functional and reliable.

You’d be better off picking one up at a gun show or on-line, still transfer through an FFL but bypassing all of CMP’s bullcrap. Just my opinion.

    1. there will be plenty of these for sale after the guys pay double for them and then mark them up online.

  142. LOVE these guns, I hope they sell them with the knowledge that we already paid for them once already. Trump is Great big POS otherwise.

  143. It would be an honor to own a prestige weapon used by our esteemed US Miliatry. Please count me in and God bless President Trump.

  144. I have a permit to carry a firearm. I would love to purchase the 1911 45acp firearm. I’m starting a collection of different firearms. I would like to add that to my collection.

  145. I initially qualified with one, but don’t currently own a 1911. I would love to have an authentic surplus weapon.

  146. Very large family of serving military, or that have served. Father had one issued to him in Vietnam. Yes would love the opportunity to have one. Please inform us with any and all information about the .45 acp 1911, any how to purchase. Thank you, and God bless ah america.

  147. AM A COLLECTOR OF WWII GUNS. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AN ARMY 45. NEVER CAN FIND A GOOD ONE. HAVE C&R LICENSE . THANKS TO OUR PRESIDENT. THIS HOUSEHOLD STANDS STRONG IN HIS CORNER..

  148. Would love to own one of these. Have always wanted one to carry. Please keep us informed when they become available.

  149. I carried one during Vietnam…. Have always wanted one but $$ prevented it. Please keep me informed. Thanks Semper Fi

  150. I would love to have one of these vintage pistols. I currently have a Colt defender in .45 ACP for concealed carry. The 1911 .45 ACP is a legendary firearm that has stood the test of time & is still one of the most popular auto pistols sold today.

  151. No thanks as worn out as the M9 I was issued and took to Iraq and Afghanistan was I can only imagine the condition these 1911 are in.

  152. Would love to obtain a 1911 Handgun in the .45 ACP caliber. I have heard many good things about them but have never found a reasonably priced one for myself. Please keep me informed about the release of these military units as they are made available to the public.

  153. I would love a peace of American history in my hands it won’t be a safe queen it would get shot at the range from time to time

  154. I carried, and qualified with these pistols as a Marine M.P back in 1979 They were worn out pieces of junk then, and will be even worse now. For the ridiculous price CMP charges for these, you can buy a Kimber, or 2 of several other decently made .45 cal. 1911s. I refuse to pay for such ridiculous sentimentality. The are worth maybe a hundred bucks, not the 7 hundred or more CMP will charge.

  155. would like to purchase one of the 45 cal pistols from the Government since I carried on for may years during my 23 years i the Army!

  156. I’m definitely interested in buying one!

“members of a CMP-affiliated club, and able to provide proof of participation in a marksmanship activity”

    (1) How do you become a member of a CMP-affiliated club?
    (2) What kind of marksmanship activitiy do I need to participate in? My high school in Mississippi had us all take a state-mandatory hunters’ education course that included gun safety and training at a range, but that was way back in the 80s when I was a kid, and I don’t have any old documentation/certificate for that program due to passage of time.

I recently passed a security clearance to become a Court Reporter for the Social Security Administration, so I would think I ought to have no issues being approved. I’d love to have a vintage Colt .45!

  157. I am interested. How do I find out about CMP’s in the San Antonio, TX, area. I belong to a shooting club, but not sure of their status.

  158. I would love to own one. Please advise me on how I can qualify for one and when they are available for order.

  159. I’m glad they’re coming out. I used the 1911 when I was in the Navy. Let’s just hope Trump doesn’t send them to Russia as payment for the election shenanigans!

  160. Indeed. Please notify as to how to purchase when available. My issued “1911” in the Army in 1970-72 was a Singer (the sowing machine co.). Not the tightest group but always functioned. Even used it as a tack hammer putting up some posters. I assume these will be of various gov’t contract manufacturers (not just all Colt).

  161. I was my company’s armourer in 70’s Korea and always wanted to own one of the 1911’s on the rack. This is a great opportunity. I’m going to apply.

  162. Would love to own a peice of history…. my grand dad had.one and i would love to get ahold of one also…. the 1911 is the most aquired weapon in american history…

  163. I shot my first 45 at Woodberry Forest School. Qualified with one in the Army . Vietnam Vet. The last time I had a chance to fire one was Vietnam 68. Haven’t been able to afford one since then. Would love the chance to acquire one.

  164. For an interesting display piece, you can get a busted old one cheap. For something that’s functional, I’d trust a midrange after market 1911 over any 100 year old gun made as quickly and cheaply as possible during war time… personal oppinion!

  165. USMC 1966-1972. Had a face to face with a Griz in Montana last year. Wish I had one.
Please put me on your list.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all!

  166. Very interested in purchasing a 1911 for my collection.

Please advise by e-mail the price and availability.

    Thank You,

    Ben Davies

  167. I remember using a 1911 Colt in my days in the military, would love to be able to get one. Any additional information would be appreciated

  168. Currently looking for a 1911 however budgetary restraints are holding me back. Hopefully these are priced at a point where I could afford to purchase one. Plus, it has a great story attached to it.

  169. My uncle served in WW2 in North Africa and always talked about the efficiency of the 1911 and it’s worthiness. It has become an icon that I would be glad to own.

  170. Would love to be able to provide my kids a working usable piece of history that will be a tribute to those that have served and carried them in their duties. Please let me know about updates as they become available.

  171. Loved these while in the Marine Corps so much I bought the Taurus version but would love to buy one of these so I can pass on mine ‘old’ one to my son when he’s old enough.

  172. I have one that my Dad bought surplus after serving as an officer in the U.S.Navy in WWII. Would love the opportunity to own another as .45 is my favorite pistol caliber.

  173. This is a piece of history, not only about Vietnam but it’s about WWII as well. I would like to own one of these relic.

  174. I would love the opportunity to purchase a 1911. My father carried one into France on D Day, an through the Battle of the Bulge. Awesome opportunity! Thanks to the Trump White house and our (little) more sensible Congress.

  175. I trained with one and carried it when I was in the military I’m retired now but I would love to have one great pistol

  176. My father carried one in World War 2, along with his 45. cal M3 grease gun. As a loader on a M4 Sherman.
    Would like one.

  177. Nice that the government is coming to it’s senses, but no way am I paying good money for the dubious privilege of undergoing an additional background check, to buy a pistol site unseen, especially after having been in the military and seen first hand the condition of its weapons. The prices would have to be pretty low to get my attention. Not to mention the CMP requirements, sheesh.

  178. im a retired gunsmith, teach hunter safety, used to be a range officer at cmp matches and an army veteran but i dont qualify to buy one of these pistols unless i join a club and shoot in a match that the results dont matter?
i called to help sort and do safety checks on these guns at one of the 2 facilities doing the work as they were looking for volunteers. i was told i would have to pay my own hotel and travel expences as well as meals and the work i would be doing was sweeping floors taking out trash ect. i would not under any condition to handle or work on the guns.
my 30+ years as a gunsmith were of no value.

  179. I retired from the Navy in 1996 after 20 years of service. The 1911 45 cal was the first handgun we qualified with and carried as Naval officers until it was replaced by the 9mm Beretta. I would very much like to acquire a 1911 to have as a reminder of the first firearm I carried as a Naval Officer.

  180. Had all the Info for CMP…I was an “Appleseed participant” & CC. After providing a ton of info still nothing..CMP is playing GOD with taxpayers bought & paid for firearms…I finally got fed up trying to jump through all their hoops, & told CMP to shove them.

    1. I agree the old guys that got guns a few years ago made a killing off them now it is olny for the good ole boys

  181. My Dad carried one in Korea and My uncle Bill Moody carried one on D day I would love to be the caretaker of one.

  182. I’ll be interested in seeing more come out about these, but so far, what I have seen is (1) you’ll need to be a member of a CMP group to buy one and (2) CMP plans to overprice them so they are only sold to collectors.

Now, if they are collector pieces of good quality with matching serial #s, they may be worth the price, but when you start getting into significant wear, replaced parts, etc. the value will go down significantly.

I’m certain there will be a market for these… who knows, if the deal is right, I may be part of that group – but I’ll be watching for more details as they are released.

  183. My grandfather and uncles carried the beautiful weapons in 3 wars. I would love to have an application. Thanks for the opportunity

  184. Grandfather told me this was his service pistol in WW2, he was a fighter pilot in the pacific and crashed from no gas near the carrier at the turning point battle in the pacific against the Japanese. His pistol was lost due to being cut from him as his tail gunner helped save him as his leg was severely impaled by a piece of metal from the plane. Took him 5 years to walk again and still had trouble. I would love one of these please notify me.

  185. Would love to have one, but there are no CMP Clubs anywhere near me. Is the CMP Membership an absolute? That seems to leave a lot of folks out of the game.
    Sam

  186. Can you give examples of what being a “member of a CMP-affiliated club, and able to provide proof of participation in a marksmanship activity” that was mentioned as a requirement to purchase one of the 1911’s.

  187. Marine Officers and SNCO’s carried the 1911. She was heavy and rattled. Her magazine didn’t carry a lot but I loved her. She’s a simple, classic , will work no matter what firearm.

  188. First pistol I qualified on. I would love to have one for each member of my family. They all like my civilian version, so six original versions would be greatly appreciated!

  189. I used one in the Marines back in the ’70’s. I’ll buy one. I’m looking forward to getting more info on this.

  190. This would be a great firearm to own, pleas let me know when they are available.
It would be like owning a piece of history!

  191. I I would love to own a 1911 45 ACP would you please update me is to any further application requirements is they become available

  192. born in USA, two background checks, already own 8 legal firearms, and I must JOIN A CLUB?? Would bucketsful of spent brass qualify as participation in a marksmanship activity?? Or how about my Marksmanship ribbon I was awarded in basic training. They got to be kidding! Thanks

  193. Would love to have one if price reasonable & condition of firearm is good. Did 24 years in military. Love to collect military memorabilia.

  194. I’d love to get my hands on one of these. The great history attached to each one makes them more valuable.
How do we apply for one?

  195. First shot 1911 in boot camp in 1961.and my thumb still hurts. Seriously, I am very interested in application to purchase one so please let me know when available. Thank you

  196. I have been looking to buy a 1911! This would be a great way. Please let me know how I can start the process.

  197. Brand NEW 1911’s can be bought for less than USD$325.00, and with less than 3 MOA at 50 feet. It astounds me that someone would want to spend the estimated thousand dollars for these CMP releases, especially not knowing the accuracy ( maybe 30 MOA at 50 feet ). In my opinion, the cost, EXTRA red tape and wait is NOT WORTH what you get if you want a shooter. As to a collecter item, CMP will not certify that you get an original weapon with matching parts .
While this is a nice thought, the politisism involved just isnt woth it.

  198. I have had a Gold Cup since the late 70’s and still shoot it occasionally. I would very much like to have a true military model and would proudly display and use it I honor of our service men and women.

  199. Would really like to own one of these 1911. Please tell me how to acquire one and what it might cost me as I have a limited amount that I would be able.to purchase one

  200. I would like one. I was a small arms Petty Officer on a nuclear sub with the responsibility to maintain our cache of 1911’s , Thompson’s and M-1 cabinets. I was qualified on all of them. 1911’s are a great weapon.

  201. Haven’t picked one up in over 20 years but I bet I could still disassemble and reassemble it with a blindfold on.

  202. I would love to own a 1911. My dad carried one in the service and would like one as well. Please let us know when they’re available.

  203. I”m stoked that such a wonderful thing is happening. Now, how about all the old revolvers that the Air Force has??? I was an SP and carried a S&W Mod 15 – there were also a large number of 5 shot mod 36’s or 37’s that pilots and OSI and others carried. Let’s clear out Uncle Sam’s safes and let’s help me fill up mine!!!!

  204. Can’t say that any of my relatives carried one, with the exception of a cousin. He landed on Iwo Jima and was the only one of his platoon who walked off the island. He has my undying admiration for that.

  205. Please notify me when I can purchase one of these classic and well proven guns.It would be an important part of my collection.

  206. I have a 1911 made in 1917 . It is the favorite of my entire collection. I would like to get one made in 1943 to match my M1 Garand

  207. Would love to have one. Please provide information as soon as it is available. I have many family members that carried that gun for our country. Thanks

  208. Has anyone else noticed that the majority of these comments seemed like they were just cut and pasted or done by bots? Most of them say “please let me know when I can have one!” “I would love to have one!” “Notify me when they are available!”. Anyone with half a brain knows that these guns are not going to be worth what they are going to price them at. Most of these guns have been in service for over 50 years by the time they were decommissioned. They are not going to have the original parts to them, they will have been rebuilt with other guns parts several times and mixed up. And I’m sure most of them will have hardly any finish left to them at all. Not to mention all the hoops you will have to jump through in order to be able to buy one. This sure seemed promising a couple years ago when they announced they were going to sell them, but now it just seems to be one great big bureaucratic joke.

  209. “Proceed” required???… Last 6 guns purchased I got 4 “proceeds” and 2 “delays” — No big deal ‘cuz i’m not going anywhere…. But how’s this going to work if CMP gets “delay” at first??? Re-apply all over again?? Do I need to get the ID Pin Number prior to application?

  210. As military retiree and gun collector I would love to own one (or more depending on the cost) of one of these 1911s.

  211. Would love to own a 1911 45acp, as I have tried to find at a reasonable price…and have not found one that is easy on my budget. Please let me know when and how I can apply for one to purchase.

    1. Ettore, unfortunately for all of us, the CMP is not the place to purchase firearms as they make sure to maximize profit for the Congressional supporters of this program. Although a good program, whenever government is directly involved, the policy always comes back to making it look like it is self supporting and then they hide all the funds so it becomes personally profitable. Good luck on your search.

    2. Colt 1911, everything about this gun is great, there’s a reason why It’s the choice of the Special Forces.(Trump stands for Justice and for America, hopefully the lying media/Democrats will back off.) Yes, I would like one. Thx

    3. Well, that’s great..now that all important point…$$$$???
      Never a how much lol
Look forward to picking one up as well…thanks!
      And MERRY CHRISTMAS ????

    4. My first 1911, stamped US Gov. was manufactured by Colt in 1911. With careful sighting accurate to 100 yards. Was stolen 45 years ago and I sure would love to replace it and still have some of it’s “Clips”.

    1. Would love to buy one. Please send me more info when available. Thanks. Sure is nice to have a president with some common sense.

    2. As an ex Army MP, the .45 was my daily carry and I still shoot hundreds of .45 ACP a month. While I would like to have another one, I think it is ABSURD that we would be required to pay to join their club and prove that we have parcipited in their marksman activities!
Nice way for them to suck more money from us.
While I refuse to jump through these hoops to buy one, if anyone
In their little Club wants to try to outshoot me with a .45, bring it on and contact me. Maybe when I outshoot them, I would be deemed worthy to purchase one.

  212. I would love to have one of these. But, like all guns, buying it would depend on the price and the condition. If I bought one I would use it at the range and probably regularly. Not just gaze at it on the wall behind glass.

  213. I wish my dad was alive, he’d enjoy having one of these.
While I appreciate this effort I have to ask, can we get the M1’s back now from S. Korea?

  214. I would love to add one of these pistol to my collection. The concern I have with this program is the requirements the CMP is making to buy one. Not everybody has access to be able to join the club, shoot at their competitions and meet all of the requirements. Even if you are qualified to buy a gun. This program says the sale of the guns is to the American public. So why is it only open to CMP members when not everybody in the general public has the time or the ability be a qualified member of CMP. THIS SEEMS ONLY A SELECT FEW PEOPLE WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE BEST PISTOLS.

    1. What you’re saying is very true, I work 40+ hours a week and on top of that I’m a volunteer firefighter. So I don’t have the time or money for the activities

    2. Actually most can meet the ‘affiliated club’ and participation requirements rather easily no matter where you are as several affiliated clubs can be joined online.

One amazing thing about this entire discussion is that so many of the people commenting here have clearly never visited the CMP website to learn about the requirements. Apparently they are waiting for Cheaper Than Dirt to deliver the information to their in box.

  215. I can see now they ade trying to make this into a big deal b4 they sell to the public, just so they can jack the price, to purchase should be no difference to buy than any other gun, just remember its not the only old gun on the market

    1. The vast majority of those M1911A1s would legally qualify as C&R (how many do you suppose were manufactured after 1967) but CMP has officially announced that they will not process any of them as C&R. All must be shipped to a storefront FFL to run the second NICS check.

  216. Very interested for historical reasons if the price isn’t jacked skyhigh. I already own a RIA 1911 anyway.

  217. The associates ,their relatives and friends will get the pick of the choice ones at deep discount prices and the rest will be over priced boat anchors..
Your better off buying a Glock or some other handgun or put together a AR kit from PSA.

    1. Ugh!..You Glock snobs are all the same. Yes, Glock makes a good, reliable weapon, but it’s not the gun that all others are measured by.

Who cares if you get a rashed out 1911 boat anchor from this?!? Just like the Garands, there will be different grades sold. In ANY case, it’s a piece of American history, that should be looked at as an honor to own.

Please, please, please do us a favor and go buy yourself a new Glock G5 and save a spot on the list for someone who’ll appreciate one of these 1911’s for what it is.

  218. As a Combat Infantryman in Vietnam I carried and fired a number of weapons including this pistol. A person shouldn’t have to belong to any group in order to be able to purchase.

  219. I would love to own one as a retired USAF..however, how will that affect CA residents as this 1911 is not on the CA handgun Roster of the Kalifornia Republik

  220. My dad use to carry, In his stories when he was enlisted. I would love to own a gun that my dad may have used. Please notify me know when i would be able to purchase one. Thx it means alot.
    Glen

  221. Yes! I am very interested in purchasing one of the 1911’s. My father is a WWII veteran, I am a Vietnam veteran, and have 3 brothers, all veterans. Please let me know when the pistols will be ready for purchase.
    Thank you,
    Roy Bruno

  222. I also am interested in purchasing one of these historic.45’s, but the price can’t be too high for as used handgun. I did not see any pricing yet, so this would be helpful to know.

    Vincent (12-18-2017)

  223. YES!….I am very interested in getting a 1911. I have always wanted to own one. It is part of our country’s history and it would be an honor to own one.

  224. The purpose of the hoops to jump is to prevent people from buying multiples and also dealers like what happened with cmp surplus ammo.

The hoops give everyone a fair chance.

I’m looking forward to owning one.

    1. That’s total nonsense Rudolph! Every buyer is positively identified – CMP could use exactly the same procedures for the M1911s that they use for M1 rifles if the purpose was just to enforce the one-gun-per-person-per-year limit.

Why would buyers who are already on file at CMP need to provide all the same paperwork a second time?

Maybe I missed something in HR2810, but I didn’t see anything changing CMP’s special status authorizing them to ship direct to buyers and I also didn’t see anything preventing them from selling M1911A1s at their physical store. Again, this has nothing to do with enforcing the one-gun-per-person-per-year limit, they have been able to do that all along with the procedures they already had in place.

And, most of the M1911A1s would legally qualify as C&R, so why did CMP decide they will refuse to acknowledge the C&R status of these guns and insist on shipping only to a storefront FFL to have them run a SECOND background check. Are they really worried that a buyer’s NICS status is going to change in the week or so between CMP running a NICS check and some FFL running the check a second time?

    2. Tom, I guess the simple solution would then be to just not buy one! The regulations that have been outlined seem reasonable. If you don’t like it, just go into your local gun shop and buy a non surplus 1911 and move on.

  225. I am a current veteran with a whole line of military family both sides of family fought for the US in WWII. I would love to own one of these surplus 1911’s for my collection. How do I get on the list?

  226. Depends on how much premium they try for on the pricing. A good used 45 from police duty is $350 these days, and there’s no rigamarole to buy one (meaning it’s just the standard background check + having a FOID here in Illinois). That would be my starting point to evaluate. These are historic guns, but getting close to the category of a Desert Eagle when compared to all the tech and development in modern semi-autos. The M9 as standard sidearm goes back at least to the mid-80s, so they’ve been storing these 1911s for a LONG time.

    1. The price range being talked about is in the $800-1000 range which would be totally absurd — but that hasn’t come publicly from any official source so hopefully it is wrong.

CMP has officially stated that they plan on requiring two NICS checks on every sale, one they will run when you submit paperwork to buy one, then a second NICS check at the FFL where they will ship your gun. These would be the first guns sold by CMP that they don’t ship directly to the buyer (as well as the first that cannot be bought in person at CMP’s own store).

  227. No doubt there would be long list of requirements & qualifications, the government is in charge of distribution!!! Any, I definitely want to attempt to be one of the few to secure one. Please continue to keep us updated on info.

    Thanks

  228. So far, the CMP plan appears to consist of
    1) Ignoring the fact that almost all these guns are C&R Eligible
    2) Imposing as many hoops as possible for buyers to jump through
    and
    3) Pricing the guns at easily twice the market value of a random, heavily used, 1911 that wasn’t especially good to start with.

    1. I agree. Everyone’s getting all worked up like they’re going to be pristine colts when the reality is these pistols have been rebuilt several times already.
If they’re anything like the grade my brother trained with, they’re more like to jam than a hi point.

  229. I would very much like to acquire a 1911 since I had one issued to me when I was in the Army 1963-1969. However, being on the west coast, there is not a CMP so obtaining used Military equipment is difficult. I do have a local FFL to use, but would need more details to give them when purchasing from CMP.

    1. Agree. Why is a C&R not recognized or accepted? A background check has already been done prior to obtaining a C&R license.
