* Both my grandfathers served in WWI in the infantry — both survived.
* My father served in WWII on the USS Louisville — hit by KamiKazes, but my father survived and returned hom.
* My father-inlaw served in Korea – returned home safe.
* My brother served in Vietnam — returned home alive and well.
* Two of my cousins served in the Gulf War – and made it home.
* My son served as a Marine in Afghanistan – returned this past year.
I am truly very fortunate to have had so many in my family serve…and return home alive. Thank you, God!

Private (Soldato) Angelo Vizzio, Allied Army (Italy) fighting against Germany/Austria. Died 1917 somewhere in Europe. My grandfather had immigrated to America with his family, but was recalled by Italy to fight against Germany in WW1. He left behind my mother who was 2 years old at the time and never came home.
My father and three uncles survived WW2.
My brother survived the Korean War.
My cousin survived Viet Nam.
My father was given military honors upon his death and the flag flying in front of our home was the one that was draped over his coffin at his funeral.
Remembering PFC Stephen D. Tingley USMC died October 23, 1983 in Beirut Lebanon.
