With the patchwork of laws across various states, adding so much as a single accessory could land you on the wrong side of the law and jeopardize your Second Amendment rights. Here is a handful of videos, specific to individuals states, to help keep you within legal bounds. Even if your state is not covered in the videos, they are a great starting point to determine the right questions you’ll need answered before buying the latest gadget or piece of furniture for you firearm.
During a recent meeting of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, more than a few of Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs showed their true colors when they signed on to a letter which expressed their opposition to H.R. 38/S. 446 – Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. The letter was adopted by 473 officials across the nation.
Whenever a politician or anti gunner proposes legislation and explains it as common sense, there is one thing you can be sure of, it is anything but common sense to gun owners or those who believe in the Second Amendment. Such is the case of the call from Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe for the enactment of a new one-handgun-a-month law to mimic a handgun rationing law that was repealed in 2012.
You might have read some articles or seen headlines about a court upholding a ban on “assault rifles,” including the AR-15. Independent Program Attorneys at the law firm of Walker & Byington, PLLC have received many questions from members concerned that this ruling has made the AR-15 (and similar semi-automatic firearms) illegal “assault weapons” everywhere in the country. Is this the truth of the matter, or a case of media misinformation?
Will the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court be good for gun owners? The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and National Rifle Association certainly seem to think so. The Hill described Gorsuch as, “Unassailable in his experience, intellect, and demeanor. What is left is his conservative view of the law, but he is not the type of nominee who can be easily “Borked.”
Gun owners and shooting enthusiasts are looking forward to the next President in hopes of a friendlier Executive Branch when it comes to matters of the Second Amendment. For maximum effectiveness, the President needs the support of the Legislative Branch and to that effort, a group of U.S. Representatives, led by Congressman Thomas Massie, launched the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus.
VCDL reported that there is a package deal in the works between Governor McAuliffe and the Republicans in the General Assembly dealing with concealed handgun permit (CHP) reciprocity, voluntary background checks at gunshows, and those subject to a permanent domestic violence protection order.
