Can 3D-Printed Guns be Detected by TSA?

In the midst of last week’s hysteria over 3D plastic guns, CBS News reported that, over the past two years, the Transportation Safety Administration had intercepted “thousands of guns” at security checkpoints, including “a handful (that) were created with a 3D printer.” The story was accompanied by an image showing a tiny five-shot revolver and five .22 Magnum cartridges that were detected.

1911 Handguns: How to Fit a Barrel

The 1911 is easily our most popular handgun, and without a doubt, the most modified. Everyone wants a good trigger, but an accomplished shooter wants a better barrel too. The right barrel, with a custom-grade fitting, ensures the pistol returns to battery in exactly the same place—time after time. After the trigger, this is likely the biggest handgun accuracy enhancer.

Patriot Ordnance Factory is what many would consider a small- to medium-size business. Economic studies have shown that small businesses are the backbone of the United States. They produce the most jobs and are responsible for the majority of the production in our nation. However, POF is no ordinary small business.
