Henry has supplied us with excellent quality .22 rifles at a fair price for some time. While Henry offers a diverse number of rifles, it is best known for lever action rifles. Henry offers distinctively-styled rifles in calibers from .22 to .45 Colt. Offerings include stainless steel, blue, case-hardened and brass-frame rifles. One of my favorites is a .30-30 version
SIG Sauer Elite ammunition has made a big splash in the market in a relatively short time. These loads exhibit good quality and reliability. Building on SIG ammunition reputation is the SIG M17 9mm +P, named after the U.S. Army’s new M17 pistol. Billed as military grade, this report sought to determine the worthiness of the new M17 +P. Did it make the grade?
A sensation when first introduced, the Combat Magnum became one of the most popular handguns of all time. In terms of power, accuracy, and fit and finish, few modern service pistols equal Smith and Wesson’s best revolver. At the time of its introduction, the Combat Magnum was the world’s lightest .357 Magnum revolver. Truly, the Combat Magnum was the revolver everyone wanted and arguably the finest service revolver ever fielded.
Today, Remington enjoys an excellent reputation for reliability with a far greater range of loads than ever. One load more than worthy of a cursory look is the Black Belt. Currently, The Black Belt line is comprised of four loads—124-grain 9mm, 124-grain 9mm +P, 180-grain .40 S&W, and 230-grain .45 ACP. Like any load, it is the performance in the gun and down range that matters.
The scout scope is a riflescope mounted forward of the receiver on the barrel. While this type of mount has been used for many years, in modern use the arrangement is called a scout scope. Thus, the obvious feature of the Scout Rifle is a forward mounted scope. This profile is similar to Colonel Jeff Cooper’s Scout Rifle concept and worthy of field work today.
Smith and Wesson introduced the most successful revolver of all time in 1899. The Military and Police or .38 Hand Ejector was manufactured in the millions and once armed three-quarters of the police in America. Becoming the Model Ten in 1957, the K frame revolver is the ideal size for daily carry and a well-balanced handgun.
I have been shooting, training, and training others for a very long time. I am not a top competitor at 3 Gun. However, I recognize 3 Gun as a lot of fun for those that love to shoot. A love of shooting must come first. Next, you may have a desire to compete for the sake of it. 3 Gun is a great thing for this. As an instructor, I recognize what it takes to win, and I hope these lines will help you to get started and be competitive. I am looking forward to comments from 3 gun shooters. I hope that they will add to my knowledge as well as yours.
The single stack 9mm market consists of the Glock 43 9mm, Springfield XD, and Smith and Wesson Shield, and similar pistols. A new player has introduced a pistol based on sound engineering that just might be the best pistol for your use. Mossberg isn’t a new maker, but it is a new maker in the compact 9mm market. This is Mossberg’s first handgun in nearly 100 years.
One of the most interesting handguns to come along in some time is the Model 69 .44 Magnum. This is a 5-shot .44 Magnum revolver built on the L frame chassis. It features square butt grips and a 4-inch barrel. However, Smith & Wesson has gone one better for personal defense shooters with the Model 69 Combat Magnum.
