Winchester announced today that it is recalling the following two lots of 17 HMR 20-grain jacketed hollow-point rimfire rifle ammunition:
- Symbol: X17HMR1
- Lot numbers (last four characters): NB51 and NB61
The company stated that the above lots may contain no powder charges. If you have them on hand, immediately discontinue using them.
In case you aren’t aware, ammunition with no powder charges may result in the bullet remaining in the barrel. Firing a subsequent bullet into an obstruction could cause a gun malfunction, damage to the firearm and risk shooter and/or bystanders injury.
To determine whether your ammunition is subject to this notice, review the symbol and lot number. Here’s where to look:

Interesting…I’ve been using super x winclean 9mm…shot thousands of rounds…last 500 has been problematic. I sent firearm back to mfg, which replaced extractor…no other issues with firearm but some less then stellar rounds fired. Almost dud like. So not sure if ammo or firearm!
