Gifts For the Guys Who Don’t Shoot

Constructed in Woolrich’s Pennsylvania mill of 85 percent wool.

It might be tempting to try to force the non-gun guy in your life to love guns as much as you do, but during the Holidays tell them how much you appreciate them despite their aversion to firearms. Buy them something they will truly like. After all, you wouldn’t want a gift certificate to a vegan restaurant now would you. My boyfriend likes guns and hunted as a young man, but they aren’t something in which he invests money. My father isn’t a gun guy either. Fortunately, there are still plenty of products I can buy at Cheaper Than Dirt that will thrill the non-gun guys in my life.

Woolrich Freedom Throw

My father is a veteran and is just as patriotic now as he was when he served. Retired, he spends more time in his recliner than he likes to admit. The American flag throw, from American company Woolrich, will not only keep dad warm in front of the fire, but mom will be pleased with how well it matches the living room. Made in Woolrich’s Pennsylvania mill of 84 percent wool and 16 percent nylon, the Freedom throw measures 60 x 72 inches. The Woolrich company has a rich and traditional history of providing wool blankets—starting with the Civil War troops (1861 to 1865) and still honoring American heroes today. Woolrich donates a portion of the sales of each throw to charities supporting veterans.

Sleeker and less bulky than an OtterBox, Columbia River Knife and Tool Company’s iNoxCase iPhone 4/4S case protects your iPhone’s screen from scratches, cracks, and breaks. Its slim design won’t add bulk to the phone and measures 4.56 x 2.55 x 0.47 inches. The 180-degree rotating screen protector allows you to see incoming calls, and then rotates to become a stand to watch YouTube or a movie hands-free. The iNoxCase has cutouts to access all the iPhone’s buttons, camera and input jacks. It comes in Realtree camo, stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, and matte black Ti-Nitride finishes. Not only is it incredibly functional, but the iNoxCase also looks high-tech and modern. I promise he’ll get compliments on it.

Cold Steel Boomerang Polymer

Men of all ages are still boys who like their toys. The last time I bought a sharp throwing object for a man, he spent hours in the back yard throwing it at everything. The Cold Steel Boomerang has an aerodynamic shape that flies easily and measures 28 inches long. Constructed of durable, high-impact polypropylene and finished with a wood-grain-like texture, the Boomerang is fun for guys of all ages. It won’t return though, so he’ll have to train the dog to fetch it. Cold Steel claims their Boomerang is an effective hunting tool and if necessary can be used in self-defense.

The Kwik Tek Airhead inflatable beer pong table will make the perfect gift for my best friend and her husband. Floating around on a tube in pool all summer long can get boring. Now when it gets warm again we’ll have plenty of fun staying cool and playing games. The inflatable table has 12 cup holders on each side and four molded rope holders to tie to the back of a boat. When flipped over, the beer pong table works as a regular float or air mattress. Kwik Tek even throws in the ping-pong balls. This is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you saw it—making it the perfect gift! It will fit most coolers and even tool and tackle boxes. Coghlan’s cooler light turns on when you open the cooler and turns off when shut. It even has an automatic timer to shut off after 20 seconds just in case you don’t close the cooler lid all the way. 1. “Won’t own one because “…and do not think that I can give it the proper honor and respect that it deserves.” is about as retarded an excuse as any I have heard. Sounds to me like you don’t want to put in the time.”
    Comment by JB895

    So JB895,

-Do you wake up early in the morning to have a proper flag raising ceremony?
-Do you bring the flag inside during harsh weather conditions?
-Do you lower the flag, fold the flag and salute the flag every night?
-Do you store the flag in a place that it will not get damaged or destroyed?
-Do you replace your flag when it becomes faded, torn and tattered?
-Do you tear the stars away from the bars and then tear each strip away from each other before you burn and bury the ashes of a flag that has touched the ground or has become unserviceable?

If you answer no to any of the above questions you should not own one either.

  2. ****I got a non shooter to shoot once and admit he was wrong, it was fun. He was my sister’s boyfriend lawyerse time and a real hippie! Totally against the second admendment and told me that owning weapons was wrong, until he fired my Spring Field 1911 .45 semiauto…then he wanted one!

It happens very often Big Mike. “GUNS ARE BAD” has been ingrained into the minds of Americans. I’ve taught a few people how to shoot and they love it. They made a conscious decisionto learn for whatever reason. Many times they bring their anti friends along. You can see itin their eyes that theywant to join in. I always offer. Most take me up on it. There are few that are so brainwashed that they decline.
My biggest conquests in introduction to shooting have been those in our public defenders office. So many lawyers are indoctrinated beyond belief. 6 plus years in “Gun Free” zones with views pounded in to their minds of mush by leftists makes obedient automatons.

  3. Won’t own one because “…and do not think that I can give it the proper honor and respect that it deserves.” is about as retarded an excuse as any I have heard. Sounds to me like you don’t want to put in the time.

  4. It is Dec 7th Rest in Peace all those that died on this day during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

And Rest in Peace all those that died for this country that honored and died for our country.

  5. Actually Scott the flag code is not only the flag but any depiction of the flag. The flag is a prestigious symbol of America and everything we stand for. The flag should be made and given to the people and should never be sold for profit of any kind. It should never be placed on wrappers, worn as clothing, made into candy, worn on clothing or buttons and should be treated with the respect it deserves. It is people like you that think that little things like this throw are ok that have diluted it’s symbolism and meaning. I am a veteran and member of our armed forces. I do not own anything with our nations flag on it nor do I own a flag of my own. Not because I am against it but because I do not take it so lightly and do not think that I can give it the proper honor and respect that it deserves. I serve under the flag, one day it will be draped over my casket but I will never own an atrocity such as this throw under the guise of respect, honor and patriotism.

  7. You guys should do a review of the iPhone case made by Lifeproof. Lifeproof.com. In my opinion it’s the best case on the market when you need protection from the elements. It ain’t the prettiest thing, but it is water proof and dust proof to military standards. I work in a metal shop and it keeps the fine metal particles out of magnetic areas. It’s expensive comparatively, but it keeps your expensive phone like new.

  8. I said almost as the throw is not an exact replica of the flag but if it would have been it would be disrespectful does not matter what others do even presidents have made inappropriate flag etiquette.

Also the charity that the money is going to is anti gun and have admitted it. I support our vets and wounded vets and those that have died in the service or our nation. But I would have a hard time supporting that charity.

  9. I don’t think the throw is offensive at all. The throw is beautiful, just a piece of Americana. If the U.S. code referred to everything that was Spangled and red, white, and blue, then nearly everything from house decorations to July 4th decorations would be illegal. The code refers to the actual American Flag. The throw is merely patriotic. Those of us who love America love the sight of the American Flag, but also enjoy seeing the design and colors elsewhere, such as Independence Day Parade floats, home decor, and blankets. I, for one, would not wish to disrespect our country choosing not to buy something that is reminiscent of our beloved Old Glory. And the fact that the company is a part of American History as well makes it even more special. Add in that the company gives a portion of the proceeds to Veterans, and you have probably the MOST respectful gift you could give this Christmas. Thanks CTD for giving us this idea for Christmas. I think I’m going to order one for myself, and maybe another for a gift!

  10. That flag throw almost borders on disrespect. Yes I know it is not an exact replica of the flag but when you look at it you think US Flag.

    Flag as Clothing

The U.S. Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, Sec. 8(d) states, “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.”
