There are times when a bombproof container is necessary to protect your firearms from the elements and other times when a velvet hand will do the trick. Either way, you do not want to risk your trusty firearms to a no name product just to save a buck—and thanks to Plano, you probably wouldn’t even save a buck.

Archers with any time behind the string have at least heard of the BLOCK target from Field Logic. The company’s history fascinated me years ago when I first wrote about its products. Field Logic started out by using recycled packing material. It was given to them for free at the time—complete shipping containers at a time—just to get rid of it. The archery community is fortunate that the innovative minds at Field Logic put it to great use.
While updating the storm prep supplies in between severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings, I stopped by a national chain store with the intent to pick up new batteries. The CR123A batteries were between $6 and $9 each! With a half-dozen or so flashlights all using two to three batteries each, that puts a pinch on the ‘ol budget. I decided to do a little surfing and came across Cheaper Than Dirt!’s dozen pack of Surefire CR123A also known as the SF123A batteries. The total package price for 12 was less than $2.00 per battery plus shipping.

The Voyager is more than a one-trick pony though and can be operated or charged via the AC adapter, built-in rechargeable batteries, solar panel or USB port. And speaking of solar panels, the Voyager’s panel can easily be articulated. The Voyager features extremely efficient charging technologies that make sense. For instance, you can play the radio for about 20 minutes after charging the radio for about a minute using the crank handle. This is one of those mileage may vary statements, because signal strength, solar assistance and volume would all effect the charge, but you get the idea.
Turkey hunting is challenging to put it kindly, but more addictive than any other drug nature has ever produced. One of the most important factors to successfully hunting a turkey is to get the turkey in range for a shot of course. Nothing does that better than the right decoy set up.
A quick trip to the rifle range will show the popularity of shooting offhand. There will likely be a few shots, but the vast majority prefers a platform—bench rest, sandbags or a bipod. All that works great… for the range and zeroing your sights, but does it relate to your shooting goals?
If you are going to play with guns and ammo you’ll also need eyes and ears. We are talking protection of course. When it comes to ears I prefer two. No silly, not two ears—although that is a preference as well—two forms of hearing protection. Outside a quality pair of electronic muffs that lets me hear commands, line stoppages, emergencies, “Take ‘em! Hen, hen—No shot!” or potential safety hazards.
Pro Ears are one the world’s most advanced electronic ear and hearing protection for shooting and hunting. Its superior technology allows the competitive shooter, hunter and law enforcement agent to hear every sound, including conversation, even during high volume noise spikes. Pro Ears electronic earmuffs achieve a perfect balance between comfort, noise attenuation and purity of sound. No compromises.
It does not matter if you are a ground-pounder or Special Forces operator enduring the rigors of the sandbox. SAR expeditions braving extreme temperatures and SWAT teams keeping our streets safe; EMT’s saving lives and regular, everyday, ordinary people—all of these people have a common bond. Each one needs a simple ink pen.
