Kids not Interested in Guns: Gifts for the Non-Shooter

Sturdy and accurate, kids and the adults alike will enjoy playing with this crossbow.

Kids these days spend too much time on their iPhones, Facebook and video games. Unfortunately, there are plenty of children who do not have opportunities to go hunting or participate in the shooting sports. If there is a child in your life whose parents haven’t let you introduce them to the joy of shooting, or a kid without any interest, you can still buy them gifts that encourage them to get outdoors.

  1. My kids are gone. I lost one son to accidental self inflcted gunshot at 12, and the other son to a sudden and rare form of canser at 19. My two girls don’t remember me, and cringe at the mention of my name, but I do remember what being a kid was like for me, and as an only child, remember fondly my pair of TrueTone walkie talkies. Listening to the static on either one was hours of fun, and those old ones all were equipt with channel 14 crystals, so eventually I picked up the old man about a mile away with beam antennas and ground planes sticking up all around his house. That was enough to keep my intrest, and over the years I’ve had more CB and Ham gear than anyone deserves. At first, cameras and kids don’t sound like a likely match, and as a kid I never had one. But over the last 40 years, I’ve really enjoyed taking pictures of many things, lots of Deer and other game from hunting and camping trips, and since I love boats, I’ve taken many great shots of boats and from boats. If you look through the several hundred shots that I have on my phone today, you’d think I love taking pictures of flowers and sunsets; and you’d be right. I think both of those gifts, along with a little instructional comradery, would be priceless.
