CGF Seeks Review by Full 9th Circuit Court in Waiting Period Case

It sounds like the punchline to bad joke, “So, a guy is concealed carrying a handgun while filling out paperwork to buy another handgun, but he is in California, so he has to wait 10 days to pick it up—to give him time to “cool off” (guard against impulsive acts of violence). Unfortunately, that is not a joke. It is the logic of the gun control crowd… and a recent court ruling.

Little Texas: What it Means to ‘Shoot Like a Girl’

At a glance, eight-year-old Addysson Soltau looks like your everyday American girl: a straight-A student and cheerleader who loves being outdoors and spending time playing with friends. If you ask her what her favorite thing in the world is, however, you might be surprised at her response: shooting—and not just plinking cans in the backyard, either.

February 23 — 10 Top .223 Remington Posts!

February 23 is .223 day! Who doesn’t love a day honoring one of America’s favorite calibers most often fired from the AR-15—one of America’s favorite rifles? In truth, we do not have to wait for 2/23, we can celebrate it any day of the year by emptying a few magazines by sending rounds down range. However, in honor of .223 day we first want to thank our men and women in uniform serving our country, veterans, first responders, and law enforcement officers who run toward danger when we get run from it. With that done, we hope you will enjoy a little down time with a few of our favorite .223-themed posts from the past.

Plinking Fun — Unrestricted!

Plinking is difficult to define, and that is how I like it. Plinking is the purest form of shooting fun. It is without limits or rules other than safety. To place boundaries on recreation, or what may even advance to an art form, is an exercise in frustration. Anything that encourages the learning of proper trigger press and sight alignment is good, but take note of the danger of taking family and friends plinking. It may result in new enthusiasts to the shooting sports.

NRA: Senate Vote to Repeal Obama’s Social Security Administration Gun Grab!

The Shooter’s Log has covered the recent actions of the Social Security Administration (SSA) that many believe would threaten, if not completely strip, recipients of their Second Amendment rights in exchange for benefits. There is a lot of rhetoric, some justified and some roaming into the realm of fake news—for and against the action. The best advice is to read up on the subject and make an informed decision. The NRA has done its homework. Read the full story to determine whether you agree.

Review: Glock G29 10mm Pistol — Bad Things Roam at Night

Actually, owning two Desert Eagles, I would argue the Glock 10mm is “the” most reliable high power semi-auto pistol and the G29 is the smallest format available. The 10mm G29 is capable of delivering 600-800 ft./lbs. of energy depending on the ammo you feed it. Not bad considering you have 10+1 rounds on tap—it’s a lot of firepower in a very small concealable package. Best of all, shooters with medium to small hands can establish a comfortable and secure grip. Read the full review to learn the history of the 10mm and how the G29 performs.

Video: Academia Asks, “What Should We do About Guns?”

Many have challenged (rightly or wrongly) that academia, professors and teachers from kindergarten through doctoral programs at Ivy League schools, are overrun with liberal thought. That is an argument for another day and in another place. However, when academia takes on gun ownership or the Second Amendment, that is something worthy of discussion on The Shooter’s Log.
