The 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge roared on the scene as a long-range shooter’s dream. Target shooters raved about its ability to bust a bullseye at 1,000 yards, without the punishment normally associated with long range cartridges. So, it was of little surprise with plinkers and hunters pleaded with manufacturers that they too wanted accuracy without punishment.
Among the most exciting rifles to come down the pike this year is the Ruger Rimfire Precision Rifle. This is a bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. The rifle is based on the full-size Ruger Precision rifle. It would make a great understudy for the .308 rifle, but it is also a fine choice for anyone interested in using an accurate rifle for recreational shooting or small-game hunting.
While I wish we were reporting that the 1911s were ready for distribution, that’s not the case. However, we have something as good, if not better. The CMP received the Garands over the last month or so. Currently, the CMP is busy prepping the guns for sale. Each of the M1s will have to be cleaned, inspected, potentially repaired or rebuilt, and then test fired. Best of all, some of these rifles are already being offered for sale.
Ruger has done something few companies have ever done outside of the AR-15 market by designing and offering the Ruger PC Carbine with out-of-the box functionality with another competing manufacturers magazines, along with Ruger’s own SR-series magazines. The brilliant 10/22-influenced design is everything we could hope for in a inexpensive, reliable, and easily serviceable $650 MSRP rifle.
