A Few Wins for Gun Owners

Open carry without a permit is now legal in Mississippi.

Dominating the news lately has been Colorado’s new gun control laws, as well as even worse tightening of gun restrictions in New York, California, and Connecticut. Delaware and Maryland have also further restricted gun ownership. Though I do not want to lessen the severity of the oppression of freedom to those states’ residents, the media has largely ignored the over 17 states that have loosened or extended pro-gun legislation this year. I believe we need to commend the following states for their new laws pushing back against gun control. All new gun laws went into affect on July 1, 2013 unless otherwise noted.

Tennessee

  • All concealed carry permit holders may keep a gun in the gun regardless of where the car is parked.
  • Those with police training may carry in schools.

Kansas

Concealed carry permit holders are allowed to carry in public buildings including college, universities and other schools.

Virginia

  • Concealed carry permit holder information must remain confidential.
  • Police officers, if hired by a private or religious school or a day care, may be armed in those facilities.

Arkansas

  • Guns are allowed in churches.
  • Staff and faculty that hold concealed carry permits may carry at colleges and universities.
  • Concealed carry permit holders who work at a bar or liquor story may carry at work.
  • Concealed carry permit holders information must remain confidential.
  • The governor cannot restrict gun sales during an emergency.
  • Act 746 decriminalized the carrying of a gun open or concealed with or without a permit.

Note about Act 746:

Act 746 changed the language of Arkansas handgun laws. There is contention whether or not the change legally allows “constitutional carry.” Contact your lawyer, Arkansas Carry or your local law enforcement agency for clarification.

  1. Your exactly correct Neil. My concern is that Fox cable doesn’t get to most of the generation that strictly watches the mainstream news casts. This post is a perfect example of what most folks won’t be informed of. In addition to gun rights, how much of ScandalGate information are the folks on the fence “not” getting? I just wish we had more strength in the main stream. It’s beyond my comprehension to think some people are sitting back when we’ve had heroes murdered and our “leader” has just dropped the subject. Anyway, I’m off subject. This article that Suzanne printed was very informative for me and it is appreciated. Thank you.

  2. Roy, FOX News has no problem tweaking the noses of the liberal politicians and anti-gun zealots who try to continue to put out lies and misinformation that they hope will further their lost anti-firearm cause. The mainstream media has been a pawn of the left for many years; no wonder that so many people have swallowed the liberal ideology, regardless of its being nonsense.

TO ALL GUN LAW STATE POLITICIANS WE NEED THIS LAW FOR ALL 52 STATES. ONCE DONE WE ARE READY FOR ANYTHING MID-EVIL OR BY OUR CORRUPT GOVERNMENT BECAUSE OUR CONSTITUTION IS NOT JUST A PIECE OF PAPER. OUR FORTH FATHER DIED FOR IT. SO WE AS PEOPLE WOULD REMAIN FREE. GOD BLESS AMERICA LAND OF THE FREE AND OUR GUN LAWS.

  4. This is really good news. I really appreciate your getting this out. I’m disappointed that many of the pro-gun associations I belong to have not put this out (that I’m aware of) as you have. The main stream won’t let the folks know this. I’ve often wondered why we can’t get a conservative news show on TV in prime time to put out real news that ABC,NBC,CBS and the likes will never speak about, and to counter their bias.
