Today’s Picks

Rock River Elite Comp

When I was first looking to buy my first AR-15, someone who really knows her firearms suggested that I purchase a Rock River Arms. They are an affordable, good-quality option, especially for someone brand new to the “black rifle” market. The Rock River Arms Elite Comp is perfect for those who are purchasing an AR for the first time and for those who want an out-of-the-box, ready-to-go AR. The Elite Comp is chock-full of custom features that you would usually have to pay hundreds for adding to a stripped-down base model. The ERGO SureGrip is made for a slip-free grip and feels great in your hand; the “winter” trigger guard is enlarged so easy shooting during cold months; and the A.R.M.S. #40L low-profile flip-up rear sight alone costs about $100.

Besides all the customized features on the Elite Comp, it really boosts some badass-looking bonuses! The effective muzzle brake replaces your standard A2 flash hider. However, what everyone is talking about is Rock River Arms’ “half quad rail.” The half quad rail looks different for sure, but also comes in handy—har, har. The rail offers places from which to hang your optics, but also provides a comfortable gripping area, so you do not have to sacrifice grip for accessories! If you are frustrated because you haven’t been able to get your hands on a Rock River Arms AR-15, don’t fret; remember it is only because Rock River Arms offers a high-quality product for a great price! Their rifles don’t just roll off the machines by the thousands. So be patient—they are worth it!

Katadyn Vario Microfilter

Since today’s Facebook question is “if an earthquake hit today and knocked the local water treatment plant offline, where would you get your drinking water from?” I thought I would share where I would get my water from.

Katadyn makes an excellent, high-quality water filter product. In my opinion, for the price, this one is by far the most versatile choice. It can clean 500 gallons of dirty water, but also has an integrated bottle thread to fill a personal water bottle. On top of that, it is the only filter that is adjustable for different water conditions, making this water filtration system both handy on camping trips or any emergency situation. It’s lightweight and easy to pack. Katadyn says it is perfect for up to four people. The Vario eliminates bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores, and sediments, reduces chemicals, and improves taste and odor—exactly what you need when water systems fail.

TAPCO AK-47 RAZR Muzzle Brake

If you want your AK-47 to look even tougher, this TAPCO muzzle brake design is something else! The prongs break wood, sheet rock, and glass. Made in the USA, the TAPCO RAZR fits standard AK left-handed, 14×1 muzzle threads. It counts as a single U.S. made part for 922r compliance.

Buy it for its function, but mostly buy it because it looks damn good on your AK.

CMMG M4LE .22 Upper

Get more trigger time with your AR-15. A CMMG .22 upper slaps right onto any lower. This is the perfect plinker and trainer. By shooting .22LR in your AR-15 you are saving money! The CMMG upper is quick to install and virtually has no recoil. These .22LR uppers are perfect for introducing first-timers or young shooters to the AR-15.

The nitride (W.A.S.P.) finished barrel is an improvement in wear-, abrasion-, and corrosion-resistant over chrome lining.
