Support Through Shooting: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Bersa .380 handgun with pink grips, pink gun case and pink rubber bracelet

Officially founded in 1985 to raise awareness of breast cancer through early detection, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, where women are encouraged to get regular mammograms. All throughout October, products sport the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon. Pink ribbons have been a symbol of the cause since the early 90s. Pink ribbons are so common now, it is difficult to decipher if companies place a pink ribbon on products for fashion or for true support. Pink Ribbon encourages us to “Think Pink” during October; consider your pink ribbon purchases carefully. Each pink ribbon product you buy, the manufacturers should be honest and open about how much money from the sale of each of those products is donated to funding research and support for breast cancer.

Cancer does not care if we are rich or poor, have insurance or not, or who we vote for, or if we are archers, gun owners, sisters, mothers, wives, or  singles. Cancer affects us all. Here are a few facts:

  • 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime
  • Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in women
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women
  • Over 40,000 women die each year from breast cancer

A portion of every sale of these following outdoor products goes toward supporting breast cancer awareness, funding and research:
