Steyr Arms announced last week that a second limited distribution of White AUG A3 M1 rifles have begun shipping to dealers and distributors. The first run of White AUGs sold out in March.
The White AUG A3 M1 will be available in Short-Rail, High-Rail, and Optics models with either a 1.5X or 3X integrated scope. Suggested retail is $2,099 for either railed version. The 1.5X and 3X optics equipped versions are available with MSRPs of $2,499 and $2,599, respectively.

With 16 numbered slots, the High-Rail version was designed to accommodate the widest range of optic choices, and the 11-slot Short-Rail version was designed for use with a reflex sight or a longer-eye relief optic. The AUG A3 M1 Optics version has a more traditional AUG scope tube and three Picatinny rail sections to accommodate accessories like a close-quarters holographic sight.
“We grossly underestimated the demand for the White AUGs,” said Steyr Arms CEO Scott O’Brien. “Our phone lines and social media accounts lit up as soon as word got out about the initial shipments to dealers and distributors, so we turned to our parent company in Austria to produce another batch of furniture. We are now working feverishly to build complete guns.” The White AUG A3 M1 packages include one translucent polymer AUG 30-round magazine, a cleaning kit that stores in the rifle’s buttstock, and an owner’s manual. Also available are 10- and 42-round magazines.
The rail and optics platforms on all three AUG A3 M1 versions are interchangeable via the three base screws that thread from the underside of the top of the receiver.

The AUG A3 M1 can be converted to left-hand operation by changing the standard bolt to the optional left-eject bolt and swapping the ejection-port cover. The AUG also features a quick-change barrel with a collapsible forward grip.
Of course, the AUG A3 M1 is also available in black, OD green and Steyr’s new MUD color.

The only purpose of a ‘white’ gun is to get you shot, unlees you plan to use it as a parade gun. Steyr’s green guns have worked effectively for years, so why mess with perfection. There is, of course, a great base for all sort of cammo effects.
I guess you don’t live where snow is a significant part of everyday life.
John from Houston, neither do you. Lived in Houston many years ago, never saw a single flake of snow. Live now, where if it ever snowed, most people would die of shock. Any way, a white gun isn’t the answer to snow, just ask those that live in countries where it snows 9 months out of 12. Snow pattern camo wraps are better.
Spent over 30 years of my life between Minnesota, Wisconsin and Alaska. Been to USMC winter mountain warfare training. Got my my snow merit badge. : )
It’s pretty. I do have to wonder how it would look after some time passes with trips to the field and the range.
