The U.S. Army has been depending on the .223, 5.56x45mm round for 47 years. Best used in jungle and heavily wooded areas for close-range combat, the XM193 is used against personnel and unarmored targets. Designated as the 5.56mm Ball cartridge M193 by the U.S. Army the Federal Lake City ammunition has a full metal jacket boat tail bullet. The bullet has a plain, unpainted tip.
A full metal jacket boat tail bullet is a military round specified by the Geneva Convention. Metal surrounds a lead or steel core to prevent additional mushrooming of the bullet, which may cause inhumane wounding. The boat tail reduces turbulence and increases accuracy.
ATK owns and operates the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant located in Independence, Missouri. The plant is the leading Department of Defense’s Prime Contractor for production of small-caliber ammunition since April 2000. Lake City has made over 10 billion, yes, billion, rounds of military cartridges.
The 5.56x45mm Federal Lake City XM193 ammo performs best in most weapons with a 1 in 12-inch twist. You can use it in the M16, M16A1, M16A2, AR-15, H&K, Galil, Ruger, FN, SIG, and other compatible rifle systems. It has an excellent performance rate in a wide variety of standard AR-15s without fail to fires or fail to feeds.
Made to Federal specification, the first run, U.S.-made ammo comes in a 20-round box.
