NRA: Hillary’s Political Doublespeak on Guns

Whether you are still on the fence or have a solid choice in mind as to who should be the President of the United States, you need to read the NRA’s latest column from award-winning author Frank Minter. In this article, Minter deciphers Hillary’s words on gun control, removes the doublespeak, and delivers the straight story.

By Frank Minter

The use of semantics to avoid accountability became “Clintonian” after Bill Clinton denied he lied straight-faced about his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Bill had said under oath, “There’s nothing going on between us,” and then found he had to explain this away. To do so, Bill avoided accountability in a ridiculous way by disputing the definition of the word “is” to a grand jury. Here’s what he told them: “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the—if he—if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement …”
NRA Stand and Fight

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has been playing an even less sophisticated semantic game. She said “there was nothing marked classified” in the emails she sent or received on a private email account and has since been trying to explain this away by defining “marked” and so much more that even her supporters must be mouthing Sir Walter Scott’s line: “Oh, what a very tangled web we weave … when first we practice to deceive.”

But we enter even murkier waters in this election season when some in the media give “Pinocchios” to those who call Clinton out on her own words.

Such is where we are now with the gun issue. The Washington Post, PolitiFact and more are claiming to be honest referees in the throes of a presidential election, even as they call Donald Trump a liar for saying that Clinton would “abolish the Second Amendment.” They claim Trump is “cherry-picking the facts,” as PolitiFact put it, even though Hillary said the Supreme Court “got it wrong” with the Heller decision, the case in which the court determined the Second Amendment is an individual right. If the Heller decision is reversed, as Hillary said she wanted, the Second Amendment would become nothing more than fading words on an old parchment as seen in the U.S. Archives.

Nevertheless, The Washington Post says gun owners’ “fear” that Clinton’s Supreme Court nominees, if she wins the presidency, would reverse Heller is nonsense because “predicting the rulings of Supreme Court justices not yet selected is a fool’s errand. Moreover, Clinton’s public positions on gun control are far less extreme than suggested by the [NRA].”

If it’s a “fool’s errand” to worry over how a future justice might vote, then why did Franklin D. Roosevelt’s attempt to pack the court rile so many that it’s still talked about today? Actually, dismissing this issue as a “fool’s errand” is so loaded with duplicity and political expediency, especially for a journalist, that it’s hardly even necessary to spell out why.

But enough about the so-called “mainstream” media’s grandstanding on their false claims of impartiality. Let’s instead decipher Hillary’s doublespeak on guns.

First, we need a quick definition of “doublespeak.” Edward S. Herman, in his book Beyond Hypocrisy, defined doublespeak this way: “What is really important in the world of doublespeak is the ability to lie, whether knowingly or unconsciously, and to get away with it; and the ability to use lies and choose and shape facts selectively, blocking out those that don’t fit an agenda or program.”

So, here we go.

Clinton: “I believe weapons of war have no place on our streets.”

Deciphered: By “weapons of war” she isn’t talking about bazookas, machine guns or hand-grenades; she is talking about an arbitrary and expansive class of popular semi-automatic firearms that she or some other politician might classify as “assault weapons.” She has repeatedly said she wants another “assault weapons” ban. Her husband signed one in 1994, and President George W. Bush let it expire in 2004. She can’t mean “weapons of war” literally, because, as any gun owner knows, “weapons of war” include bolt-action rifles, pump-action shotguns, semi-automatic pistols and just about everything else available today.

Clinton: “You shouldn’t be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show.”

Deciphered: The American freedom to buy, loan or trade firearms among citizens has been part of our freedom from long before 1776. But according to Clinton, this freedom is a “loophole.”

Clinton: “If you’re too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America.”

Deciphered: According to Clinton, it is okay for the government to use secret black lists to take away a constitutionally protected civil right from someone not even suspected of a crime. This makes any reasonable and thoughtful person wonder why she is afraid of finding a speedy and practical way—with insights from law-enforcement agencies, gun owners and more—for the courts to work in such a way that doesn’t strip away our “life, liberty or property, without due process of law,” as protected by the Fifth Amendment.

Clinton: “Something is wrong when so many Americans have reason to believe that our country doesn’t consider their children as precious and worthy of protection as other children because of the color of their skins.”

Deciphered: Clinton wants to use the disastrous results of her party’s current gun-control laws as an excuse to cry racism and take away even more rights of law-abiding Americans.

Clinton: “I stand in support of this common-sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun. I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry, such as Chuck is proposing.”

Deciphered: Clinton said this in June 2000, while endorsing a bill introduced by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that would require licensing and registration for handguns. She has since acted like she has backed away from calling for national gun registration, as this direct assault on a constitutional right hasn’t proven to be politically wise.

Clinton: “I would also work to reinstate the assault weapons ban. We now have, once again, police deaths going up around the country, and in large measure because bad guys now have assault weapons again.”

Deciphered: “Assault weapon” is a political term, as the only way to define the ambiguous and ever-expanding list of what constitutes a so-called “assault weapon” is by reading a law that bans guns of certain models and with specific features. As to her claim, FBI data shows that less than 3 percent of murders are committed annually with any type of rifle (the FBI data doesn’t differentiate between rifle types).

Clinton: “I think again we’re way out of balance. We’ve got to rein in what has become almost an article of faith that almost anybody can have a gun anywhere at any time. And I don’t believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people.”

Deciphered: The government, according to Hillary, has the right to ban our right to bear arms wherever and whenever it sees fit. This includes bans on the right to bear arms that covers entire cities and states and bans that cover expansive and arbitrary lists of firearms.

Clinton: “I believe that we need a more thoughtful conversation. We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.”

Deciphered: She equates the average law-abiding American gun owner with armed gang members, brutal terrorists and other violent criminals.

Clinton: “No. We just can’t trust the American people to make those types of choices … Government has to make those choices for people.”

Deciphered: Hillary Clinton said this in the early 1990s while arguing the government can’t trust the people to make wise medical decisions. Given everything she has said about the Second Amendment, it is hardly a leap to believe she applies this point of view to America’s law-abiding gun owners as well.

    1. Really? You are commenting on a pro-gun blog and the NSA is logging your words and your identity. You are NOT anonymous unless you are (fat chance) using TAILS (The Amnesiac Incognito Linux System). That means that you can be found and added to the list.

      Hillary MUST NOT WIN.

  1. Well this is precisely why you can expect there will be a civil war in this Country if these issues are pushed much further. The degree of anger expressed by people today over Government overreach has reached the boiling point. People are fed up with political correctness, black rioting every time a black criminal gets shot, Obama’s blatant disregard, racism and affront to the Constitution by his actions, and a host of other disrespectful acts toward our Country and its citizens. People can be pushed only so far before they explode and when it happens it won’t be with folks throwing rocks.

  2. Well, there are a number of issues that we face these days and it seems that the American people really don’t have a voice because some members of our Government ( Hillary Clinton) have their own agenda and our voices fall on deaf ears. The number one issue that faces us today is the banishment of our Second Amendment to the United States Constitution to protect the right of the people to keep bear arms. This was adopted on December 15, 1791 and was part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights. It was written to support the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state.

With the new gun band laws signed by California Governor, Jerry Brown, he has put restrictions on gun ownership, including an assault-weapons ban, outlawing high capacity magazines, and background checks on ammunitions. This is an infringement of the very core of the Second Amendment. Slowly our rights as Americans are being taken away and this is just the start. Now, with these new laws going into effect in 2017, law-abiding citizen will become criminals. It’s hard to rap my head around this and I’m sure there are many more people out there like me that can’t believe we are going to be criminals with the stroke of the Governors pen. I am definitely not going to give up what I have owned for many years and I’m not the only one who feels this way. There’s over 100 million law-abiding citizens in the United States of America who own guns that have the same mindset that I have.

What Hillary Clinton and the California Governor should be doing is enforcing the gun laws on the books and getting criminals off our streets. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic who has been doing this job for 28 years and I have seen many shootings in my lifetime. These criminals do not go to their local guns stores to buy guns and ammunition, so these new gun band laws just turn the average law-abiding citizens into criminals. Now, the Governor of California will need to build more jails to house us law-abiding Americans. Where is the common sense in this. Somebody needs to talk some sense into the minds of these Government Officials who have forgotten who they work for, the American people. Hillary Clinton is beyond talking too that’s why we need Donald Trump in the White House as President of the United States.

  3. The Clinton legacy is “Getting away with crimes, possibly including murders, lying profusely, and just about every immoral behavior without penalty.” This woman cannot tell the truth. The Clintons are corrupt to the core, hate America and everything the constitution stands for. She cannot be trusted unless an issue she promotes is anti-American.

  4. Larry Gatlin got it right when he added the line from the old lawyer joke to his song “Gonna Stand Up and Say So”. I know you’re lyin cause your lips are movin. We cannot trust a single word that leaves her lying lips. Trump may be slightly abrasive and extremely opinionated, but he this wonderful nation’s only chance to endure in a fashion even remotely similar to what we enjoyed in the 50’s and early 60’s. We might even have a slight chance of returning to something close to original intent of the founders, which is something that Her Royal Highness Hillary would NEVER allow to occur.
“Just Sayin’ ” -to quote Judge Janine.

  5. Discussion about Hillary & 2nd Amendment Rights, or the Constitution of the United States should never be discussed on the same page.
Hillary is a puppet criminal. she and her handlers are out for the biggest prize in the World, & they will stop at nothing to attain that prize. They need total control over the United States & the only way doing so is to delete the 2nd Amendment. This is the only obstacle standing in their way over total domination.

  6. I notice that with ALL the bitching about how both Candidates suck,nobody-NOBODY has offered a better choice. I think Trump will do just fine as President. I’ll bet he does as he said he’d do,and repeal all the EO’s Obama used to “Comprehensively change” America. I’m expecting to see nationwide Constitutional Carry soon after he’s inaugurated.

  7. has any one ever considered she may has early signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s?? She’s old enough and we don’t need another Ronald Regan falling asleep in office again when the world is in turmoil. Does anyone think its time to elect any president when they are 65 or younger to handle the stress of the office and not always some old person just because they survived the others. Age does not always equate to wisdom.

    And on a different note:
Why isn’t the news media following the fact that the “queen’s” fund raisers are private and the new media and guests are censored from any discussion?? She’s avoiding the Mitt Romney flop. So, Trump is a fire cracker but throws it out for discussion, Hillary preys on the minority fears and capitalizes on it.

So bottom line for a president. Experience doesn’t count. Obama proved that. Including getting the Nobel Peace Prize that others work a life time for to be recognize instead of just being the first Black President. BUT what does count is surrounding yourself with knowledgeable persons, providing good correct advice even if not popular, and not persons sucking up and doing what the one in charge desires to keep their jobs, and then make a decision that is a good balance for ALL concerned.

  8. It’s time to gear up, arm up and step up and take this country back by force, that is what the 2ed amendment was put their for it’s not for hunting or sport shooting. IT’S TIME TO FIGHT NOT VOTE,

  9. HILLARY FOR PRISON 2017 ! Every single word that comes out of Her mouth , is a lie . How would any True American ever even consider placeing a single vote for a Criminal ,Power Hungry Liar as Their next President . Seriously ?

  10. If Hitler Clinton wins I hope the people will stand together and fight for our 2nd and the whole constitution for that matter even if it means civil war.

    1. Civil Wars are a way to make a regime change happen, when rights are arbitrarily abrogated the the self-styled ‘leaders against the “Hoi Poloi”. If that witch and her philandering mate get back into office, it think may be required to defend our first amendment with the 2nd amendment.

  11. How can the representatives remove our 2nd. amendment from the constitution without putting the bill on a ballot for us citizens to vote on ? or even a stupid executive order such as Nazi-ism ????
All of us are tired of anarchy that is going on in this country. It is time to get new representatives that follow our wishes.

    1. OK, let’s get a few things right, for a change.
Nazism, a form a fascism, ultranationalism being a biggie in that fringe.
It’s a very far right position, she’s middling left, with corporatism mixed in, to pander to corporate sponsors.

Now, let’s go to the crux of the article, where it began, Bill lied about an affair (duh). He used lawyers arguments, he’s a lawyer, of course he did. She’s a lawyer, she’ll use similar arguments. (see Duh, above)

      Reality meets the road.
No POTUS may rule by decree, executive orders rule daily, Congress rules monthly/quarterly, etc. Congress can undo whatever a day to day executive order can try to do, see the War Powers Act for one example on steroids.

The weapons of modern warfare do have no purpose on our streets. Be it a military armed drone, a fscking tank or an assault rifle. Frankly, whatever happens on the streets, I can trivially handle with my old M1911 (no wars on that here, it’s what works for me, your mileage may vary by pistol). If I need a rifle, I’m doing something *seriously* wrong!
Don’t get me started on 60 round magazines or greater, I did quite well in war with 30 round magazines and honestly, we had belt fed weapons to handle things while we reloaded. Oh wait, that was war. I have precisely zero desire to see that on our city streets! I live here, I don’t want that crap, Somalia style, for my grandkids.

I grew up in an open carry state, Pennsylvania. Nobody bothered, save a few souls that got to know every cop in the counties that they traveled in. Cool there, the cops learned that the individual wasn’t insane, wasn’t a criminal, he went on his merry way, still packing his sidearm.
Today, I’m living in Louisiana, another open carry state. Where I am, nobody bothers (see the above).
When at (shameless plug for the shop) Ron’s Guns, I was regaled of the sheer volume of idiots bringing in a loaded firearm by the owner, Ron. Ron’s about as AR centric as my cat is. But, we had a grand discussion on other firearms and I’m quite sold on my next firearm being either a replacement M1A NM or Henry octagon 45-70 (he had a Marlin, stainless steel Henry and the octagon model, the latter is heavy enough to absorb some of the recoil and honestly, I’m sorry that I sold my old 45-70).

That said, when my wife screwed up and left the front door unlocked, a man of uncertain sobriety or sanity actually trekked to our door, opened it, looked inside and closed it. I took that break to pull out my AR. I’d usually use my M1911, but it’s in the shop for some trigger work.As he didn;t try to effect entry, I opened the door and addressed him, he was departing my property and unresponsive and obviously unarmed.
I parked my rifle by the door and exited my property, a .38 in my waistband, behind.
He remained unresponsive, but walked up his own driveway, never making eye contact. He eventually entered his own home – next door. New neighbor.
Overheard: His wife reading him the riot act. We’re still uncertain if he went off of meds or was intoxicated.
Regardless, there was no need to gun him down. But, I’ll keep an eye out, so will my wife, no need for a semiautomatic M249 (regaled to me at Ron’s).
But, equally true, no need, had he effected entry and, maybe tried to rape the cat, a need for the police to arrive in an APC or with AR’s. If one can’t Taser it out of problem or Glock it, what? We need mortars?

      Grow a fr*gging brain!

    2. Weapons of war are currently legal to own in the US (at least in free states). By that I mean fully automatic firarms, grenades, rockets, tanks, cannons, basically the works. NONE of these things are used in crime whatsoever, yet you have a phobia and irrational fear of folks owning them? You may just be a lunatic. Heck even back when they were more easily obtained there were very few crimes committed with them. I do not support anyone who Infringes on my rights whatsoever, that especially includes Clinton who called to violate FOUR constitutional civil rights to enact draconian gun control.

    3. @ Wzrd1,

To have credibility when speaking on any issue you must demonstrate that you possess an understanding of the terms you choose to toss around. Failing to establish such credibility, as you’ve done here, removes any hope you may have had towards influencing your readers into your way of thinking and thusly renders your efforts completely pointless.

In particular, “Nazism” is not a form of fascism as you’ve claimed. Historically fascism has been used as an ideological tool of enforcement by various authoritative governments across the entire political spectrum from the left to the right. Meaning – “fascism” is not owned by any one particular type of group or assigned to any specific set of political leanings. It is instead an overtly authoritative act which can be carried out by any spectrum of government or ruler.

The core tenants of fascism are the belief that peoples’ earnings, individual rights, and all property ultimately belong to the State to be controlled at the pleasure of the government to carry out their socialistic or communistic goals. Currently in America that philosophical tactic would best be used to describe the modern progressive liberal which is definitely the fascist left.

So to correct your misunderstanding, while by pure definition “Nazism” actually translates to “National Socialism”, it is by no means a strict subset (or form of) fascism, but rather Hitler chose to employ fascist tactics in which to carry out elements of his particular extreme version of nationalism in a socialistic manner.

Hitler aside, there are ways to have pride or belief in strong nationalistic unity and healthy views without employing fascism which forces citizens to cede their individual rights, wealth, and property over to the government in the name of progressive liberal socialism or communism.

One last thing, as misguided as your opinions often are, there is still a way to impart them without being such an ass to people… so instead why don’t you “Grow a fr*gging brain!”

  12. That single statement alone disqualifies Hillary for any government office when she said, “No. We just can’t trust the American people to make those types of choices … Government has to make those choices for people.”

Regardless of the context in which she made such a statement, it shows us Hillary clearly perceives government as a separate entity at her disposal for her to use as a tool to rule over and control people at her will.

Rather our U.S. Government was actually designed to be a representative extension of the American people and the States which created it, and it is bound by law to serve at our pleasure which means it must always act in our best interest at all times, not hers.

Interestingly Hillary has been a little more honest than we give her credit for. With such statements as those listed in this article, Hillary has in-fact made her intentions quite known all along. The scariest prospect out of all this is that the people have actually been warned, so if they still elect her into office, that tells Hillary this must be the new path they truly want – which is to be ruled and lorded over.

So be it seen as the new will of the people – a monarchy is born – hale to the new Queen.

    1. I”m with you G Man. Having seen first hand what Politicians can do for those who give them money. She gave Military Weapons to “Moderate Islamic Extremists”, in hopes of them overthrowing their Government. Will “Moderate 2nd Amendment Extremist’s” be so lucky IF she is elected?

  13. If Hillary wants to take away my guns, then she can give me my own secret service agents to protect me, my family, and go hunting for me as well. She sure can talk a whole lot about gun control when everyone protecting has AR-15’s. She’s saying that I’m a criminal like the average gang-banger. I don’t have a criminal record. I don’t even have a speeding ticket, yet I’ll be a criminal once she becomes the president in the fixed election. What about her and her husband Bill? He pardoned so many criminals because they could help him or his wife. He raped a bunch of women and had them silenced. What about hillary? As secretary of state she didn’t know what C meant on emails! Come on! She shouldn’t have been secretary of state if she didn’t know what things meant. She she work at McDonald’s so she would’ve just messed up an order; instead of risk the security of millions of Americans. If you don’t know what you are doing then find a different job. She thinks that just because her husband was president, that she can do it too. We need someone who hasn’t been questioned by the FBI about their criminal activity. Trump Sucks but Hillary is worse. I never heard about Trump being questioned for illegal activity for anything. If no one voted for Hillary, Hillary would still win because this election is rigged. She had the DNC nomination rigged and poor Bernie Sanders lost without a chance. She is the most corrupt person in America and that’s saying something. Even people who say they’re Democrats, they’re not voting for her. This year is the worst choices ever for president. Choose the lesser evil. Trump.

    1. OK, reality dose here.
“He raped a bunch of women..”, see Snopes.
Don’t know crap about our Constitution, I see.
Corrupt, yeah, as much as all politicians are. Vs Trump, who organized corruption in his favor.
In short, a whore vs a pimp, it seems that you like the pimp. At least the whore will vote against the pimp.

I loathe both choices, however, reality says one thing, WE HAVE A CONSTITUTION and an executive order is good for as long as it takes for Congress to cut it off.
See our Somalia intervention for reference.

    2. One correction. Hillary is comfortable because her Secret Service Agents have military grade weapons. They carry M16s or M4s which do have automatic capability.

Maybe those are the weapons of war she is referring to? I doubt it, but I also give here the doubt of a benefit.

  14. You have omitted her most favorite qualifier (also used by Director Toomey in his post investigation and his testimony before Congress). “At the time” the emails were sent or received. The one qualifier that makes her statements truthful is “At the time”, never mind that she instructed all parties involved to remove headers and markings which is in itself a federal crime, however she did not actually participate in the act and her subordinates knowingly and wilfully followed an unlawful order making they alone liable to prosecution and I have heard no one call her on the use of those three little words. Anyone whom does not believe that this bitch is a deceitful congenital liar and a clear and present danger to the American way of life is as much unamerican as she is… No paid attention when Obama when he promised to re-form America and look where we are now, involved in a daily struggle to hold on to the most basic rights defined in the Constitution. This country as we know it cannot survive four years of Obama on steroids, we will find our voices stifled and our rights redefined if we are not completely controlled by a bunch of Jihadi Muslims hell bent on destroying our Constitution and replacing our legal system with Sharia law… Vote your conscience not your party. And anyone desiring to dispute what I’ve written screw you, I am only repeating what I have watched them say…. Words like “America is a filthy place” “killing a homosexual is your duty, you will be doing them a favor” and my favorite, muttered by every Jihadi and many radical clerics, muslim leaders (and Lerm) “Death to America” These are the people whispering in Obamas ear and will be exponentially increased by Clinton and her closet Commie V,P,.. I’m done…

  15. Not sure why most folks even feel the need to continually point out that the woman is a degenerate in every definition of the word.

  16. I fear for our nation if MS. Clinton gets the office as her philosophy has been at odds and aggressively so to the common conservative gun owner, the Christian Churches, the Individual that stands for the law and order of the land to be in the inner city as well, as the more rural areas.
