Reader Comments of the Week
“Excellent article. Short but informative. I would add one (2) more rifles. The HK91 is an incredible battle rifle but a tad bit expensive and difficult to find, therefore my alternate choice is the PTR-91 which I believe should have been mentioned. Extremely reliable and a very close clone to the HK-91.”
– MARTIN, in response to 5 Best .308 Winchester Semi-Auto Rifles
“Great starter article – a couple of adders (50 years of FEMA and SAR experience) Emergency radio – A4M/FM/WX with alert, either alkaline or rechargeable batteries. USB or crank charging (solar isn’t too useful if sheltered). My personal choice is Midland ER210, can recharge my phone or other USB devices. Loud NWS alert/light. Beware of small AA/AAA radios that burn through a battery set in as little as 3 hours of runtime. Small cooking stove (butane, propane, fuel tabs are all options). Any backpacking stove can be used in the kitchen with care.. Fuel tabs should only be used outdoors. Take a basic first aid class.”
– LEATHERSTOCKING, in response to Disaster Preparedness: Food, Water, Electricity, and First Aid
“Single Six was my first handgun purchased in 1980 and still a favorite. Trained many new shooters due to single action and no recoil which builds confidence to move on to larger calibers. Replaced grips with Hogue rubber to accommodate my large hands. Taken countless squirrels and rabbits while snow shoeing Recommend to anyone starting out as it versatile and runs good as new 30 + years later.”
– CHRIS, in response to Ruger Single Six .22 LR — A Cowboy Gun Classic
