All About the Camo: DU Partners Offer New Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades

Mossy Oak Brand Camo Shadow Grass Blades logo

The only ones who understand the value of camouflage better than hunters is Mother Nature and the game we pursue. A flash, flag, or twitch will send cupped wings skyward faster than a 3 1/2 shell sends shot, so not only does camo matter, you need to have realistic looking camo that breaks up your outline and blends with the environment.

Mossy Oak Brand Camo Shadow Grass Blades logo As the Official Camo of Ducks Unlimited (DU), Mossy Oak has developed a DU-specific Shadow Grass Blades pattern for DU partners. The DU-specific pattern features the DU logo embedded within the pattern, making it easy for waterfowlers to show their passion for hunting and support of conservation.

Here is the full press release.

Shadow Grass Blades features a precise arrangement of individual blades of grass, whether windblown, broken or bent, onto a background of thatch consisting of lesser or dead grass, to create the perfect pure grass pattern. Carefully placed shadows from the main grass arranged atop the thatch, which incorporates light to dark spots as seen in nature, creates depth that gives Shadow Grass Blades a realistic 3D appearance and superior ability to break up a hunter’s outline.

The growing list of partners offering the DU Shadow Grass Blades pattern for 2017 includes: Drake Waterfowl Systems – technical hunting apparel Artisans Apparel – casual and logo gear Itasca Footwear – waders and knee boots K2 Coolers – roto-molded coolers and stainless drinkwear Mud River Products – hunting accessories and pet products Outdoor Cap – headwear

In 2015, Mossy Oak and Ducks Unlimited formed a partnership that further aided waterfowl and wetlands conservation efforts and named Mossy Oak the Official Camo of Ducks Unlimited. “For the past 30 years, Mossy Oak has considered waterfowl, and specifically waterfowl conservation, a priority,” said Chris Paradise, chief sales officer at Mossy Oak. “From our corporate funding, to the resource, to developing the best camouflage to hunt ducks and geese across North America, it is a passion second to none here at Mossy Oak. As we announce our long-term partnership with Ducks Unlimited as the organization’s official camouflage pattern, we are now able to further our dedication to the resource, our waterfowl licensees and our cherished fraternity of waterfowl hunters across the nation.” Ducks Unlimited Inc. is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America’s continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 13 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever. 1. The shadow grass blades pattern looks like it is perfect for SoCal where the foliage (?) using that term in a very broad sense up until about three weeks ago was mostly brown with a little black thrown in here and there where the brown had burnt. So, other than at a DU dinner, where does one acquire proper attire in said camo pattern?

    1. Mossy Oak licenses the pattern to other manufacturers. I saw clothing, packs, firearms etc with the new camo at the show, so I would expect it to be on retailers shelves within the next few weeks. The manufacturers always get advance notice, so they can time product launches to coincide with the launch of the pattern. ~Dave Dolbee
