Last week I wrote about my disappointment with the stance the Wounded Warrior Project has taken against guns and knives. Hollow speak about quietly supporting the Second Amendment while openly shunning any association with the firearm and knife industries. During the latter part of the article I made a pledge to stop supporting the WWP, but in honor of those who served to double my efforts to support our wounded heroes. So here is a quick and easy one that we can both do together.
There are two parts to this and I am calling on all of you to do both. First, when writing out your Christmas cards (or any holiday you wish), fill out an extra card or two and simply address the card as follows:
Holiday Mail for Heroes PO Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
And let them know how you feel. Thank them for putting it on the line for all of us.
In truth, should we really need a holiday? We really should be sending out thank you cards all year long. I hope everyone reading this will assist in effort to make the people working in the mailroom miserable with too much work and bring as many smiles to our wounded and recovering servicemen and women in the process. Whether wounded in combat, injured in training or down with appendicitis, let’s show them we care and are thankful for their commitment to our freedom.
The second part of this action is to spread the word. Link to this message and spread it to all of your contacts on social media, Facebook, Twitter, and your favorite forums. If we can make it go viral—just think of the support we can show and cheer we can bring to their recovery efforts.
This is the least we can and should be doing to show our support. Sound off in the forum with more ideas of ways to support our wounded heroes and to let us know you’re doing your part.
Dave, once again, you prove youself loyal and grateful to the veteran. Hoo-rah!
They deserve everything we can do – and certainly earned it! Hoo-Rah!
