Did you make a New Year’s resolution to expand your personal arsenal this year? Well, you won’t have to wait long to fulfill that resolution, Springfield Armory has several new options you can get your hands on. Here is Springfield Armory’s release regarding six of its new-for-2017 products.
EMP 4″ Concealed Carry Contour
The world’s most elegant carry pistol family just added a new member. For those who emphasize extra-discreet concealed carry, we’re proud to introduce the new Springfield Armory EMP Lightweight Champion with Concealed Carry Contour.
Back in 2007, the original Springfield Armory EMP set a new bar for quality, performance, and style. Combining the near-perfect ergonomics of the time-tested 1911 design with a new patented short-action, the original EMP redefined what a carry 1911 could be. Among the community of those who know, it has earned a reputation as one of the most shootable compact pistols ever.
The all new EMP 4” Lightweight Champion with Concealed Carry Contour model improves on the original by combining a longer barrel with a frame trimmed for ultimate concealment. The new bevel cut on the mainspring housing does a lot more than one might think. The rounded contour molds to the shape of the shooters hand, preventing “palm bite” during fire. For carry, the contoured shape helps to prevent snags during the draw and virtually eliminates the telltale bulge under a cover garment. Now, the EMP is easier than ever to conceal.
The new Concealed Carry Contour model features a four-inch, stainless steel, Match-Grade bull barrel with a fully supported feed ramp. The barrel is housed in a forged stainless steel slide with an exquisite satin finish. The slide assembly is complemented by a black hard coat anodized forged aluminum alloy frame. The front fiber optic sight facilities instant sight acquisition while the low-profile combat-style rear sight ensures a smooth draw from concealment.
The EMP Lightweight Champion with Concealed Carry Contour handles even better than it looks. Checkered black G-10 grip panels combine a slip-free hold with incomparable durability. Both front and rear strap frame surfaces feature our smooth, but effective, Posi-Lock texturing pattern.
Your EMP will come packaged in a premium carry case with three 9-round magazines offering a loaded carry capacity of 10 rounds of 9mm.
EMP Black Armory Kote
Innovation can take many forms. Sometimes it’s a brand new idea—like the XD. Other times innovation is the fine-tuning of a classic—like the EMP.
How could the enduring design that is the 1911 be improved? Springfield Armory answered that question in 2007 with the introduction of the Enhanced Micro Pistol. The EMP changes what a compact 1911 can be.
The action of the EMP is 1/8 inch shorter than that of the original 1911. This translates into several concrete advantages for the shooter. The shorter grip radius produces a shockingly comfortable shooting experience. You have to shoot the EMP® to believe how controllable it is. The shorter dimensions also work to increase reliability—something that’s crucial in a concealed carry pistol. And of course, the overall dimensions are one of the smallest 1911s out there.
The good news doesn’t stop with the innovative design. The EMP® comes loaded with all the features you expect in a 1911 of this class – like low profile 3-Dot tritium combat sights and a match grade fully supported and ramped barrel. And with 9+1 rounds of 9mm or 8+1 rounds of .40 S&W, the EMP packs an amazing amount of punch in one of the smallest 1911s ever.
If you’re looking for a 1911 to carry with you every day, look no further than the Springfield Armory EMP. Sometimes innovation changes everything.
TRP Operator Tactical Gray
The standard setting pistol for no-compromise fighting handguns is now available in Operator Tactical Gray. The original TRP pistol was designed as a consumer-The TRP series of 1911s from Springfield Armory are serious tools for the most serious of applications. These tactically proven pistols are intentionally designed to work under the worst conditions you’ll encounter. You’ll find all the quality, features and performance that you need in a 1911 of this class.
TRP™ level quality starts with the forged national match frame and slide. These are precision fit and then mated with a match grade stainless steel barrel and bushing. The 20LPI checkering on the front strap, checkered mainspring housing and G10 grips will keep this gun in your hands when the sweat and adrenaline are flowing. The crisp 4.5 – 5lb trigger pull means you can more easily put shots on target when it matters most. 3-Dot tritium sights and an extended beveled magazine will remind you that the TRP™ was designed for use in high-stress places—where the environment works against target acquisition, and mag swaps have to be lightning fast. The Armory Kote or Stainless Steel finish will protect your TRP, so it’s ready for the next mission.
Sometimes performance isn’t optional. When your requirements dictate that you use the best tools available, reach for the Tactical Response Pistol.
XD MOD.2 4″ Service Model .45ACP
The XD® Mod.2 is now available in a 4” Service Model. The 4” Service Model is a slim and ergonomic pistol that packs even more amazing capacity. Featuring the GripZone, the XD Mod.2 Service Model is ready for duty, a day at the range and even concealed carry.
With high visibility low-profile sights and a slim-contour frame, the XD Mod.2 Service Model is a feature packed full sized double-stack pistol. At just two tenths of an inch wider than the industry’s slimmest single stack polymer frame pistols, the Mod.2 offers 13+1 rounds of .45ACP. The noticeably slim profile and other features combine to make the Mod.2 Service Model a pistol that offers excellent ergonomics and serious firepower in a surprisingly concealable full sized handgun.
Like all XDs, the Mod.2 Service Model is loaded with safety features. The striker status indicator, loaded chamber indicator, grip-safety, internal firing pin block, and the Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Action Trigger System all work to make the XD Mod. 2 Service Model a safe and easy to use pistol.
And of course, GripZone ergonomics set the XD Mod.2 apart from all others. Optimized contact between the human hand and the frame of the pistol keep the Mod.2 Service Model on target for round after round. When you pick up the XD Mod.2 4” Service Model, you might find that a trip to the range is in your immediate future. After that, you’ll probably find that you’ve got a new favorite pistol.
XD MOD.2 5″ Tactical Model .45ACP
When it comes to security for you and your family, there’s rarely a concern over having too much ammo on hand.
The XD Mod.2 5″ Tactical Model packs 13 rounds of .45ACP ammo in each of its two included stainless steel magazines. While it’s a double stack design, it’s not too thick to carry like so many of our competitors’ models. Measuring just 1.2 inches wide, it is barely wider than single stack pistols with far lower capacity.
A pistol with a healthy sight radius is easier to shoot under stress, and that’s why we’ve chosen to fit the Mod.2 Tactical Model with a full 5-inch hammer-forged carbon steel barrel. It’s treated with Melonite to stand up to moisture, sweat, and other undesirable conditions over the long haul.
The slide takes most of the day to day wear and tear, so we’ve made sure to construct that from Melonite-treated carbon steel too. While we always recommend properly caring for your handgun, the Mod.2 Tactical isn’t one that will require babying. This combat-ready gun is designed to be used, not left in the safe.
Fast and accurate shooting requires control, so we’ve included all of the Mod.2 enhancements. Springfield High Hand grip near the beavertail and below the trigger guard allow you to put support close to the bore line to minimize muzzle flip. The new GripZone contours and texturing are specifically designed to provide maximum purchase at specific points where your hands and fingers require the most contact. Three different textures provide the friction needed without painful overkill.
Our customers have responded very positively to the lightning fast sight combination of fiber optic front paired with a low profile combat rear sight, so you’ll find that combination on the Mod.2 5″ Tactical model too. If you prefer different sighting options, that’s no problem—dozens of aftermarket sights fit our standard dovetail cuts.
The XD(M) OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) allows attachment of popular red dot optics directly to the XD(M) 4.5-inch pistol with no need for custom modifications.
The Optical Sight Pistol features factory-milled slides and replaceable adapter plates. Out of the box, the OSP comes with a Vortex Venom red dot sight pre-installed. The Venom offers a three MOA red dot—a perfect size that balances fast target acquisition with precision. The Venom features ten levels of brightness and a top loading battery compartment that allows the optic to maintain zero through battery replacement.
Included in the box is the #1 adapter plate which supports the Vortex Venom red dot sight. Also included in the box is a cover plate that is used when no optic is installed. The cover plate is milled to match the contours of the XD(M) slide. The included adapter plate also fits the Burris FastFire 2 and FastFire 3 red dot sights.
The Saint 5.56
When it comes time to defend your legacy, turn to the Saint. It’s the ultimate refinement of the time-tested AR-15 design and represents everything that a defensive carbine should be.
The quality of a rifle begins with its foundation. That’s why the extra-tough Type III aircraft-grade 7075 T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers are joined using the Accu-Tite system. Unlike lesser rifles, the Saint is rock solid, with no accuracy-killing rattle or shake. On the outside, a hard-anodizing treatment protects your Saint from both corrosion and the dings and blemishes that accompany hard use. Inside the upper receiver is an M16 bolt carrier group machined from Carpenter 158 steel. It’s shot peened and magnetic particle inspected for long-term durability.
The Saint features a 16-inch Chrome Moly Vanadium barrel treated with Melonite. Because details matter, you’ll even find that hidden areas like under the front sight base are finished with painstaking care and detail. The 1:8-inch twist rate provides the user with complete ammunition flexibility—the Saint will handle heavy 80-grain and ultra-light projectiles with equal aplomb.
While receiver fit and barrel construction represent the foundation of accurate performance, the trigger is the final interface between the shooter and rifle. The Saint features micro-polished trigger components treated with Nickel Boron. The result is the feel of a competition trigger with the appropriate mil-spec pull weight for a defensive rifle. The Saint is easy to shoot to its full performance potential.
Speaking of performance, the Saint is designed for smooth operation and fast but controlled follow-up shots. The mid-length gas system paired with a heavier carbine “H” heavy Tungsten buffer slows and smooths out the recoil cycle, creating a shooting experience second to none.
Unlike most AR-type rifles that leave the factory with standard mil-spec furniture, the Saint includes meaningful upgrades across the board. The Bravo Company Mod 0 Pistol Grip offers a more vertical orientation designed to support a natural hold when shooting from the modern combat stance. The grip is complemented by a Bravo oversized trigger guard designed for easy reach, with or without gloves. The Bravo Company buttstock offers positive cheek weld areas, a rubber butt plate for traction, and both QD and fixed sling attachment points. Like the Accu-Tite receiver, it’s designed for tight, rattle-free operation in any of its six positions. The all new and exclusive Bravo PKMT two-piece handguard covers aluminum heat shields but offers a super-slim profile. KeyMod attachment points allow placement of accessories according to your personal preference. In short, you’ll feel the difference.
A defensive rifle must also be reliable, and that’s why the Saint uses a dry lubricant coating inside the bolt carrier group and receiver extension tube that keeps it performing in the worst of conditions.
The Saint is optics-ready out of the box. The flat-top receiver is topped with Springfield Armory low profile flip-up dual aperture rear sight with ½ minute of angle windage adjustment capability. Up front, the A2-style gas block and front sight features a standard post adjustable for elevation.
The bottom line? When it’s time to protect and defend, trust the Saint.
