  1. As far as I know, there has never been an incident in the history of mankind in which a firearm took on a life of its own and went on a shooting rampage. There was always a human being pulling the trigger. Furthermore, it usually becomes tragically apparent that the shooter had serious mental health issues and somehow “fell through the cracks” of society.
    The technology of making so-called “smart guns” does nothing to identify and help those who have fallen through the cracks. The funds that the government is trying to spend to implement untested technology is better used to help kids who are at risk of becoming the subject of a breaking news story. Teachers know who these kids are, but the system designed to help is more focused on saving money.
    This should be Mr. Obama’s and Mr. Holder’s focus. Guns don’t kill… People do.
