2012 SHOT Show Special Report: Ultibeam the World’s Brightest Flashlight

At the 2012 SHOT Show Cheaper Than Dirt! came across a really neat flashlight called the Ultibeam. This light, the “world’s brightest flashlight” burns at a super 8,000 lumens. With an 85-watt HID the beam have a length of over one mile. Brian Ray of Ultibeam tells me, “with this 8,000 lumens it will penetrate the dark like no other light out there!” In fact, the only competitors of the Ultibeam are the Helios, a 5-watt HID light that only reaches 5,000 lumens and the 3,000 lumens Surefire. Both the Helios and the Surefire retail at over $1,000. The Ultibeam is $699.99!

HID (high-intensity discharge) lamps are brighter and more energy-efficient and are smaller per candlepower in comparison to LED and halogen bulbs. HID lamps are used when you need the same light at the sun in the middle of the day gives us, like sports stadiums, gas stations, gymnasiums, football fields, and parking lots.

The Ultibeam 85-watt, 8,000 lumens flashlight is constructed of 100% CNC-machined 6061 aluminum and lasts 70 minutes on only one charge! It includes the flashlight, battery, A/C power charger, 12V automotive charger, amber lens, storage case, and a carrying strap.
