Earlier in January someone leaked a product sheet for two new Kel-Tec bullpup rifles named the RDB and M43. I heard Kel-Tec was pretty ticked off about the leak, but the flier circulated the gun blogs quickly. I wondered if maybe Kel-Tec was mad because the rifles didn’t exist, but sure enough, Kel-Tec unveiled prototypes of the M43 and RDB at SHOT Show 2014.
At the 2014 SHOT Show Media Day, I got the opportunity to fire a few rounds through Beretta’s ARX-100, the civilian version of the ARX-160 rifle developed for the Italian military. At first glance, I thought it was just another black sporting rifle. However, in true Beretta fashion, they painstakingly included some features that I consider a requirement on modern weapons systems.

However, as thousands of booths start bleeding together and your stack of business cards becomes unmanageable, it’s only the truly innovative ideas that end up sticking out in your mind. For me, the Laser Devices Mk7 Battle Light was one of them.
Picking up Smith & Wesson’s new .380 ACP Bodyguard might just give you déjà vu, but as you reach for the INSIGHT® laser button on the front of the frame, it isn’t there. S&W’s Bodyguard for 2014 is nearly identical to the first release, sans integrated laser.
Poor California. Last year was rough for gun owners who live in the Golden State. California Governor Jerry Brown approved 11 new gun restriction laws in 2013. But don’t worry Californians! Smith and Wesson is really nice and for 2014 have made its affordable and reliable self-defense and target pistol California-compliant.

The Smith & Wesson name is synonymous with quality revolvers, and with good reason. We got a chance to get a close-up look at Smith & Wesson’s booth at the 2014 SHOT Show and were treated with a huge wall of Performance Center eye candy. An unassuming wheel gun caught my eye that could get just about any job done.
