CZ 75

The Overlooked CZ 75

I like gun stores. I like being in them, browsing through them, and buying from them. Trust me, I do plenty of business outside of my workplace, just as my competition does with us. In a recent trip to look at some handguns, I saw a new guy working behind the counter. I was curious about his recommendations and told him I was looking for a full-size duty pistol chambered in 9mm. He showed me the usual Glocks, Springfield XDs, and Smith & Wesson M&Ps. When I mentioned that I was possibly looking for something in the double-action/single-action family, he walked me right past the CZ 75s and straight to the Beretta 92s. When I asked him about the CZs, he said, “Oh, you wouldn’t want one of those, nobody ever comes in asking about them anymore.”

Cool Things That Have Nothing to do with Shooting

Bushnell Backtrack GPS Personal Location Finder

I’m totally buying this for my mom. Seriously, this one time she couldn’t find her way out of a public restroom. Yes. She’s that directionally challenged! The Backtrack is so simple to use; it only has two buttons and will store up to three locations. It even gives you the distance back to your location. You can find your way back to the car from the grocery store, Walmart, or the Outlet Mall. Okay, that’s actually my issue and not my mom’s. I guess I need a Backtrack, as well. For some reason I find it necessary to call someone right when I pull into a parking lot, so I never pay attention to where I parked. Yep—I’m that girl!

Anyhoo…

It is extremely compact, so it will fit in your pocket or purse. It has a SiRF Star III GPS receiver. I am not sure what that is, but it sounds impressive. Besides all that, it won the 2009 Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Award for hunting product of the year.

Pelican i1015 iPhone and iPod Touch Case

Pelican i1015 iPhone and iPod Touch Case

Pelican i1015 iPhone and iPod Touch Case

I am notorious for dropping my phone, which causes the little SIM card thingy to pop out and then I have to have CTD Rob help me put it back (which is pretty whiny of me) or I have to take it to the Apple store to have them put it back (which is super inconvenient). I guess I could figure out how to do it myself, but then CTD Rob wouldn’t have anything to do.

This Pelican tough case will not only fit the iPhone, but plenty of other SmartPhones, as well. The external jack lets you still use your phone and has a hole where your headphones come out. There is a carabiner so you can attach it to your belt, purse, or backpack. It is water-resistant, crushproof, and dustproof—all things the iPhone is not!

Perfect for trips, the gym, camping, hiking, kickball games, and clumsy people!

This is one of my “why do they make these?” products. S&W makes seriously good handcuffs. Pink? Really? I wonder what cons feel like when they get slapped with pink handcuffs? The image makes me laugh.

Hm. What else can I do with these?

6-Pack German Military Surplus Boot Bags

6-Pack German Military Surplus Boot Bags

Boots and flip-flops are my preferred footwear, but I can’t wear my flippy-floppies for much longer, so it will soon be time to dust off my boots. I buy rather expensive boots, so keeping them in these boot bags is a good way to keep them nice and in shape during spring and summer.

I threw one in my duffle bag when I went to the 2011 O.F.A.S.T.S. (Oklahoma Full Auto Shoot) because I wore a pair of boots to the shoot and it was dang dusty out there. Threw the boots in the bag, and bam! —my clothes didn’t get all messed up.

I also keep my kickball cleats in one of these bags, because they are super dusty, too.

The bags measure 15×18” with a drawstring top and constructed of tough cotton fabric. I’m sure if you don’t need shoe bags, you can find hundreds of other uses for them.
