Dads come in all varieties, dad, father, papa, pop, the old man—and a host of names that would never be repeated to his face, but Father’s Day is his day, so why not make it special? Long gone are the days of another tie or a few implements for a grill. After all, would you give mom a new frying pan or a girdle for Mother’s Day? Of course not, but Father’s Day is probably the hardest gift giving day of the year, so The Shooter’s Log has made it easy by breaking gifts down into categories. Simply pick the category or categories that describe dad best and roll in strong with a gift you know dad will love and use.

CMMG’s MkG Guard is an AR-15 rifle that is chambered in .45 ACP and feeds from factory Glock magazines. At the heart of the Guard is the patent pending Radial Delayed Blowback operating system that works to harness the strong recoil impulse of .45 ACP. After extensive durability testing, CMMG is proud to announce that the Guard is safely rated for 450 SMC.
There was little doubt that 2018 is going to be a gun worthy year. Savage Arms alone launched about 100 new models. Weatherby announced that is is done with California and plans to pull up stakes and set roots in the gun-friendly state of Wyoming. Perhaps the most exciting news for many was the announcement of a gun that does not really belong in the Rifles section. However, it is essentially an AR-15 with a 11.5-inch barrel and standard collapsable stock that the ATF does not classify as a rifle or a shotgun! That means no tax stamp or NFA requirements. Read the full details later this week in a future edition of The Shooter’s Log.
For 2016, we have survival rifles, utility rifles, anniversary rifles, and a mixture of new hunting rifles from which to choose. There are rifles for subsonic shooting and even one for speeds greater
At one time, AR-15 and AK-47 designs were black and white. They were easy to identify by sight and sound because they fired their own specific cartridges using their own specific operating system. Today, that clear black-and-white demarcation is gone, replaced with a range of alternative rifles that use varying qualities of each platform to make new mutants, hybrids, mongrels, oddities, novelties, or whatever you want to call them.
Okay, don’t hate on us too much but a couple of these rifles are 2013 mid-year introductions or just too
One of my associates recently showed off his brand new AR 15 type rifle at the firing range. The difference between that rifle and the others on the range —it was chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. He bragged about how the stock, sights and firing mechanism mimicked his .223 so closely that he was able to practice tactical rifle shooting for a pittance. I nodded my head, put the eyes and ears on and began firing my Daniel Defense .223 caliber rifle. My cohort busily ripped through a brick of .22-caliber ammunition.
We just got in more pictures from CMMG’s display at the SHOT show and they are doing some really innovative things that we haven’t seen anywhere else. They have a modular AR-15 upper receiver that can switch back and forth between a standard configuration and a left-handed ejection configuration.
CMMG showed off their latest .308 configuration at the 2012 SHOT Show. The lower takes Magpul Pmags or DPMS/SR-25 magazines.
This tactical. 22 LR rifle thing is really catching on. Quite a few of the guys around the office had
Do you like bacon? We sure do. You know what tastes better with bacon? Water, shooting a .22LR SCAR Clone, and America!
Dual Ceramic Water Filter Bag
The Just Water For You High Country filtering water bag can filter up to 10 gallons of water per hour. It is perfect for camping, natural disasters, survival, or your bug-out-bag. It rolls up into a compact size and only weighs about two pounds.
The ceramic filter used in the High Country was developed to be the simplest water filter in the market and it is so easy to use; no complicated instructions involved!
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has tested the filter and found that it is very successful in filtering out bacteria from any water source.
I like Just Water for You (JWT) because they donate a small portion of each purchase to humanitarian causes all over the world.

BLACKHAWK! American Flag Patch
I came across a comment the other day from a customer saying he wished we sold these American flag patches. I pointed him in the right direction to where they are on our site, “Gifts and Everything Else.” Did you know we had that category? If not, I highly suggest you browse there. We have some fun things in that category.
This particular American flag patch, made by Blackhawk Products, has a Velcro back, so it will hook onto your cap or MOLLE vest. It is black and tan and measures 2×3 inches.

ISSC MK22 Sport Semi Automatic Rifle
So you’re not a Navy Seal, but sometimes like to pretend? Instead of paying over $2,000 for a SCAR, you could get the ISSC MK22 Sport semi automatic rifle in .22 Long Rifle with a FDE finish. The basic features of the ISSC MK22 Sport are a 16” barrel, a 22-round capacity magazine, synthetic stock, and weighs 7.49 pounds. It has metal parts, and feels like a centerfire rifle, but is not as expensive to shoot.
Robert Farago from thetruthaboutguns.com says, “If you worship at the altar of tacticool, the MK22 is all that and a bunch of bullets besides.”
CMMG Tactical Bacon
Here is another product listed under “Gifts and Everything Else.” Tactical bacon. Yep. That’s right. Tactical bacon. CTD Martin brought some back for us from SHOT Show 2010, so we got a sneak peak of it. We actually popped it in the microwave before eating and sure enough, tastes like bacon!
I have a feeling it makes perfect zombie bait.
CMMG Tac Bac is fully cooked and ready to eat. It has a ten plus year shelf life, and comes in nine ounce cans. We sell it by the 12-can case.
Everything tastes better with bacon. Get ya some!
