Sight Solutions for 2013

By Dave Dolbee published on in Buyers Guide, Firearm Accessories, Iron Sights, Optics, Scopes

Given the rate products are flying off the shelves at Cheaper Than Dirt! and elsewhere around the country, it’s not worth being too picky in deciding which products deserve flavor of the week treatment, so I am not going to even try. I have already played with a whole goodie bag full of new offerings this year and will roll out a handful of new products each week, so enjoy and keep checking back!

Bushnell Elite Tactical

Bushnell Tactical Elite

Bushnell’s Elite Tactical SMRS features the versatile Ignition illuminated BTR-2 reticle with 11 brightness settings

The Tactical SMRS 1-6.5 x 24mm scope combines close-quarter precision with outstanding mid-range capability. With true one-power magnification, this scope delivers instant target acquisition at close range combined with the ability to acquire targets at extended ranges by taking advantage of the versatile magnification. The Elite Tactical’s 34mm tube allows room to dial at extended ranges, and features sturdy T-Lok locking target turrets with .1-mil click values and 10 mils per revolution.

The riflescope features the versatile Ignition illuminated BTR-2 reticle with 11 brightness settings—an off position between each setting—for quick adjustments in any light condition. The Ignition reticle increases the overall brightness at any setting, with improved concentration of light on the illuminated portion of the reticle. The mil-hash BTR-2 reticle allows marksmen to quickly make range, holdover and windage adjustments. The reticle has chromium backing on the muzzle side to eliminate the possibility of light emitting from the front of the scope.

Trijicon HD Night Sights

Trijicon continues to build upon its comprehensive line of HD Night Sights by making HD Night Sight available for the popular Ruger SR9 and Beretta Px4, 90-TWO and 92/96A1 model pistols.

Trijicon HD Night Sights

Trijicon designed its HD Night Sights to excel under the most demanding conditions by placing primary emphasis on faster front-sight acquisition. This new design incorporates enhanced front sight visibility with a de-emphasized rear sight. Upfront, a tritium lamp lies within an extra-large, brightly colored—yellow or orange—dot area that provides a distinctive sighting picture. In addition, special photo luminescent glow-in-the-dark powder in the paint aids in faster front sight acquisition during transitional lighting operations.

Although originally launched in 2011, Trijicon continues to build upon its comprehensive line of HD Night Sights by making HD Night Sight available for the popular Ruger SR9 and Beretta Px4, 90-TWO and 92/96A1 model pistols.

Simmons Predator Quest

Simmons Predator Quest

The Predator Quest comes in two flavors, 4.5-18×44 and 6-24×50.

Inspired by Les Johnson and his popular TV show, the Predator Quest Series riflescope has the features and optical firepower to help you make every shot count. Multi-coated lenses produce extremely bright, high-contrast images and fingertip-adjustable turrets promote quick adjustments. Reliable in even the worst conditions, the Predator Quest is waterproof and fogproof. It has a side focus adjustment for rapid target acquisition and Simmons’ versatile TruPlex reticle. The Predator Quest comes in two flavors, 4.5-18×44 and 6-24×50. Not even the sun will give away your position thanks to the Simmons’ stealth matte finish.

Burris-FF-E1

Burris’ Fullfield E1 6.5-20 x 50mm take the guesswork out of determining both trajectory and wind compensation with the Ballistic Plex E1 reticle

Burris Fullfield E1

Wind and distance can be your friends thanks to Burris Fullfield E1. Fullfield E1 riflescopes take the guesswork out of determining both trajectory and wind compensation with the Ballistic Plex E1 reticle—a simple, uncluttered method for determining hold off for wind and holdover out to 500 yards.
This year the line expands with the addition of a 6.5-20 x 50mm with the new Ballistic E1 MV reticle. Essentially, it’s an E1 reticle calibrated to the 22.250 cartridge and it’s the ultimate varmint gun scope. Other options include 30mm tubes on the 3x-9x-40mm and 4.5-14-42mm models, and an illuminated reticle on the 3x-9x-40mm for enhanced accuracy in low-light conditions.

I like what you did here with the different items, however if you get a chance I would enjoy a rim fire article with economy styled sighting options like lower end red dots, scopes and other options. I have always been a handgun fan but a few months ago i picked up an AR styled 22lr and i would be interested in your suggestions and recommendations. I only paid $300 for my rifle and really don’t want to spend more on optics than i paid for the gun. Just an idea.. thanks

Robert, The Bushnell Tactical Elite red dot sight is a great optic for a .22 cal rifle. I have two of these mounted om two S&W MP15-22
rifles and they work great. Very accurate. They are also inexpensive ranging from $120.00 up depending on where you find them. Good luck in your search. Hope this was helpful.
