SHOT 2014 — Mako Group Pentagon Mag Coupler 50 Legal Rounds

By CTD Suzanne published on in News

“High-capacity” magazines banned in your state? Mako Group Fab Defense has the answer.

With its new The Pentagon or PMC (Pentagon Magazine Coupler) you can have a legal 50 rounds at your disposal! The star-shaped mag coupler connects five 10-round Ultimags to a center hub via the mag’s baseplate. When you run out of ammo from one, just simply eject the spent mag, quickly rotate and you have another 10 rounds. All pieces are sold separately. You can buy the entire set here.

I I bought one of these and it looks great but it did not work. The ammunition does not load into the barrel. Has anyone else had this problem? I was very bummed out. Hat to return it!

DresdenSinn, no, it won’t accept any other mags other then the “PMAGS” also made by the mako group. Other mags don’t have a universal bottom to them that could be securely clipped to the coupler. The PMAGS have two grooves on either side of them that allow them to be slid into the coupler and then locked into place. They also sell a 2 mag coupler that looks less goofy that also accepts the PMAGS. You then have 20 rounds without breaking the law and looking silly.

      Johnny Bravo,
Mako Group does not make PMags. Magpul makes the PMags, which will not fit into the coupler.
The only magazines that will fit in the coupler is Mako’s Ultimag.

Does anyone know if the coupler will accept standard 30rd AR mags?

Maryland is down to 10 rounds, but thanks to our proximity to Virginia and Pennsylvania standard capacity mags are easy to get and bring home. I like that new pentagon though. I think I would buy a couple once I can locate them.

Yes, now you have 5 individual legal magazines coupled together into a single illegal one. I get the feeling that one would still get into a load of trouble having this on a rifle.

Please do not call those magazines “high-capacity”. They are STANDARD capacity.

We all know that criminals obey these laws.
Why is it that criminals do not object to these bills/laws?

Here in Maryland, the “FREE” state (ROFLMAO), 20 was the max. But as of Oct 1, 2013, it’s been dropped to 10. It hasn’t affected the crime rate any. In fact, in the first 2 weeks of the year, Baltimore has recorded 14 murders and it continues to climb. This PMC is a great idea.
