Call to Action: National Right to Carry Needs Your Help

The clock is ticking on the 2017 legislative year. We have made a lot of progress toward National Concealed Carry Reciprocity, but have not made it across the line just yet. The NRA and like-minded Second Amendment advocate groups are doing their part, but also issuing calls to action for responsible gun owners to ensure that they protect and expand the right to keep and bear arms. The goal is to get them to cosponsor and support the passage of S.446 – the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, in the Senate and H.R.38 – the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, in the House.

By the Numbers: America’s Top 5 Shotguns

Semi-auto handguns topped the list, which was not much of a surprise. Likewise, semi-auto rifle topped it category, but when it comes to shotguns, that sweet sound of a pump being racked tops the list. Then again, with some of the awesome sales over the past couple of years, who hasn’t picked up a couple extras for when a SHTF scenario becomes reality?

NSSF: Statement on Chicago Gun Trace Report

Few, if any, gun owners would disagree with more police on the streets or stiffer penalties for criminals who use guns. However, we all have seen surveys that claim gun owners support a proposal based on a couple of pieces such as these when in fact the anti gun forces are proposing something much more insidious. Chicago’s latest Gun Trace report may be just such as a strategy, but that is for the reader’s to decide. Here is the reading and analysis from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

Colt LE6920 AR-15

By the Numbers: America’s Top 5 Rifles

The ATF numbers show that rifles gave pistols a close run for the top spot. While the category can be broken down into three subcategories, semi-automatic, bolt action, and lever actions, no one reading this will be surprised that semi-autos dominate the category.

Reality Check — What are you training for?

After recent events in Barcelona, Orlando, Paris, Las Vegas and other places, the prospect of a lone wolf or organized attack with severe consequence seems more and more plausible. I am certain any right-minded person would stop a terror attack if it was within their ability. But that is the question: “Do you have the ability?” The first thing you have to consider is that you may be killed. Many terrorists, unlike common killers, are on a hell-bound trip. Holding a gun on them or threatening them will be meaningless.

Recall: FN Issues Mandatory Safety Recall of FN M249 Rifles

Safety first of course. FN has discovered a design flaw that could make your FN M249S or PARA unsafe, but the company is stepping up and fixing the problem at no cost to the owner. Not all M249Ss are affected so FN has set up a web page to check your serial number and determine whether your rifle needs a new hammer group. Read the full detail in the release from FN America.

By the Numbers: America’s Top 5 Pistols

If there is one thing I love, it is a good debate over which gun is best. The regulars all make the list, and that is fine, but the creativity and opinions of the readers is really what’s eye opening and makes it a good a read for me. That being said, this list is strictly based on the numbers, so it is perfect fodder for a good shredding—do your worst.

New Anti-gun Legislation Introduced in Congress

From the moment the recent tragedy in Las Vegas hit the news, we knew we would have to brace for shock and wait for the fallout. Several states have bills pending. There will be the usual sabre rattling from the normal characters, of course. The question that matters most is, “How do they purpose to infringe on the Second Amendment this time?” We have the answers.

.410 Loads for Self-Defense — A Carjacker’s Worst Nightmare and More

I have always loved the .410. At a young age, I was introduced to it as an alternative to the .22 long rifle for rabbits and squirrels. Due to the shot pattern, it was easier to harvest the fast moving little critters. Later, I was introduced to bird hunting and quickly realized those old men were not shooting the .410 to gain an advantage. Instead, it was a show of skill on fast-moving Bobwhite’s. However, it was when I was first introduced to the .410 for self-defense that I gained a respect for the cartridge.
