Today we feature blogger Fernando “FerFAL” Aguirre from the blog Surviving Argentina who writes some more on The End Of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAWKI). Preparing for
There’s been a lot of hubbub over the newly signed legislation in California that restricts ammunition sales. Governor Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 962 into law on Monday. This law contains many new regulations on ammunition sales. We’ve boiled the new law down to its essence and are presenting it here in a much simplified form.
Under the recently passed Ammo Restriction bill (named “Anti-Gang Neighborhood Protection Act of 2009″), the following changes to the law will occur. These changes will go into effect starting February 1, 2011.
In recent months we’ve seen a surge in people preparing for… something. Preparedness is all fine and good, but what are we preparing for? Many talk about “blood in the streets” and the need to stock up on ammunition and firearm components, but how likely is that scenario?
Commander Zero of the Notes From The Bunker blog wrote recently about this and more, and is our guest blogger this week. Here’s his take.
Picking the correct bag for a hiking trip, range use, or simply for day to day use takes some
Russia’s newest entry in the AK line up of rifles is a suppressed CQB rifle firing armor defeating subsonic ammunition. Meet the AK-9, Russia’s latest and greatest, and perhaps deadliest, assault rifle. And that’s saying a mouthful. The AK-9 was sorta unveiled in 2007, well almost. It still remains an enigma. A variant of the AKS-74, it’s chambered for subsonic 9x39mm, is virtually silent, and defeats most body armor.

This case was brought to my attention by a coworker, and I had to see what all the fuss was about. I thought I would share what I found with my readers.
The case is from the Royal Case Company based in Sherman in the great state of Texas. While it is on the large side, it is definitely not a rifle case. Still, you should be able to fit three, or even four, full size pistols in the well padded interior. The interior of the case measures 20.4 inches long by 12.4 inches wide and is 6.75 inches deep.
No, this insurance won’t protect you from a bad guy inside your house. What it will do is protect you from the aftermath of a righteous defensive shooting. Imagine this: you’re at home alone, and someone breaks in. It’s dark, but you can see the outline of an individual with a gun. Fearing for your life, you fire on the aggressor and kill him. Later investigation shows that the person wasn’t actually armed, and now the local prosecutor is filing criminal charges against you. You may have been justified, and you may even win the court case, but how will you pay for the hundreds of thousands of dollars it can cost to properly defend a criminal case?
The Bulgarian drum magazine is from one of the finest firearms arsenals in the world, the famed “Circle 10″ in Bulgaria. Rest assured that you have the finest in this type of drum magazine. Loading is easy, but the first time out may take a few minutes longer than after you have done it a few times – like anything else in life.
Finally got back and caught up from the 4th annual Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno NV, and I have to say, it was a fantastic event. Cheaper Than Dirt! regularly sends reps to various industry shows and conventions, so it’s only natural that we would send a rep to the largest gathering of firearm industry bloggers in the world. Cheaper Than Dirt! is pleased to be able to use this opportunity to reach out to other enthusiasts of the shooting sports, as well as to further enhance the community we are creating with our forums and blog for all fans and participants of various shooting sports.
This holster is another one of our “wow this is a surprising value” items. I thought I would share a bit of my impressions and give a quick review.
Today I’m heading out for the 4th Annual Gun Blogger Rendezvous. It’s a great opportunity, not just for writers, but for anyone, to get to know the bloggers and to learn a LOT about firearms. These writers are a veritable fount of knowledge when it comes to firearms. But since I’m flying up to Reno, I felt it appropriate to post an article on flying with firearms. It can be intimidating for the uninitiated, but it’s really not a huge deal if you know the rules.
Today we feature guest blogger Jim Rawles from SurvivalBlog.com
One of my long-standing Precepts is that every prepared individual should be ready for both barter and dispensing charity. Today, I’ll be briefly discussing barter. Being ready to barter is not just a matter of having a pile of “stuff” to barter. While barter and charity logistics are important, what is even more important is what is between your ears.
Humans are not built for cold weather. We don’t have layers of fur like the polar bear, nor do we have protective blubber for insulation like marine mammals. What we do have is very advanced brain, and the ability to fashion tools with which we can adapt our environment to suite us instead of having to adapt to our environment. Cold weather gear allows us to create a small environment that is perfectly suited for us.
For about the last 12 months, hunters, shooters, and everyone involved with or familiar with the firearms industry has noted a dramatic spike in firearm sales, along with a corresponding rise in ammunition sales. Coinciding with these spikes has been an acute shortage of certain firearms and almost all ammunition. We interviewed Cheaper Than Dirt! CEO Michael Tenny about the shortages and to see what insights into the ammunition industry we could glean.
Here is yet another one of our excellent high-quality low-price items that really works, the Ace Case Tuckable Holster.
The UTG Weapon-Mount & Handheld Tactical LED Flashlight has been around for a while and they have received good reviews on our site and my co-workers all have nice things to say. I am usually a bit of a flashlight snob but thought I should take look and do a little review as I am always looking for a value bargain.
