By Dave Dolbee published on in Firearms, General, Hunting

After all, who says you have to have a designated thumper just for turkey. Even if you do, it’s never too early to start thinking about next season, or just to break in your new gun while your dog gets a tune up. Here are six shotguns everyone can be proud while enjoying a little wing and shot time.

Winchester SX4

The Winchester SX4 is one of the best auto loading shotguns available today, ready to perform like a champion no matter what the weather conditions! Its comfortable ergonomics, sleek profile, and rugged reliability are available to you at a price you can afford. Precision manufactured and engineered for endurance the Super X4 will continue to excel shot after shot, round after round. Featuring a 26″ chrome-plated barrel, a fiber optic front sight, and Active Valve gas system, the SX4 provides exceptional accuracy. The Active Valve gas operating system automatically adjusts to allow the exact gas pressure necessary to fire a wide range of loads, giving you a greater versatility on the range and in the fields. Improvements over the SX3 include an oversized bolt handle, bolt release, and trigger guard for easier access and operation with gloved hands in cold weather. The Inflex Technology recoil pad has been widened and thickened to further minimize felt recoil, making the SX4 even more comfortable to shoot all day long. A most noticeable change from the SX3 is the reduced weight and ideal placement of the balance point with a narrower pistol grip. These seemingly small changes greatly improve the swing and point of the shotgun, enabling you to get on target faster and more accurately. Lighting-fast operation, lightweight design, and proven reliability, makes the Winchester SX4 a great choice for both the hunter and sporting clay shooter.

It would have been nice to include the MSRP for each of the shotguns listed. While I would like to be able to say, “I don’t care how much it costs, I want it,” alas my bank statement says otherwise, so MSRP or actual street selling price range is as important as any other spec for any item I look at.

Agreed, just an MSRP would be great for a rough idea if it’s 250 or 2,500

The venerable 12 Ga. is sadly a relic of the black powder era. Move to 20 Ga. You’ll be happy you did. Doesn’t matter what the job, (except Geese). For Geese you might need a 3 1/2 in mag. and a 30 In barrel. When’s the last time you went gunning for Geese? Is that a good reason for you to own a 12 Ga?
